They run very, very small
If you can figure out the correct size, these shorts are pretty good. They're lightweight, utilitarian (I use them for hiking and cycling) and have a nice cut. However, be forewarned: they run very, very small in the waist. I'm a 33.5 and ordered the 34. It wasn't even close. Exchanged for a 36 and it's a tight fit but acceptable. There certainly isn't any need for the belt. If you're a true 34, my recommendation is to go for the '38 for a looser fit where you can use the belt, or a 36 for a snug fit. Good luck...
