Took out my new drt 1.2 today overall great. internal cable routing rattles incredibly loud, loud enough to hear it over anything ever just pedaling on a smooth gravel road. Not sure if that’s normal or not… Also came with Kenda tires that ARE NOT TUBELESS COMPATIBLE and not the WTB tires listed in the description. So that is going to be an extra $100 cost. I brought it up to the bike shop and they just said it was subject to change. It’s a shame that this bike is not tubeless ready. If the bike won’t come with true wtb tubeless ready tires they shouldn’t be on the listing and price should probably be knocked down…
This was an upgrade from a 10 year old Trek Mtn Bike. Moved from triple chain rings to two on the 1.2, no issue at all. I am 5' 11'', I got a L, bike fits well, comfortable reach to handlebar (which is quite wide compared to my Trek). Love the 29'' tires, ride is smooth on paved and unpaved surfaces, rear derailleur had to be adjusted out of the box but good now. Very comfortable saddle. Front fork movement is great, you can unlock/lock easily while riding. I had the bike shipped to me, arrived quickly, easy to finish assembly. My one complaint is a small paint issue or chip on the downtube. I contacted customer service but they couldn't provide pantone number so that I could address. The bike will eventually get a few nicks, but kind of wish that I could have earned them.
Purchased this bike in May. It has been perfect for me a newbie MTBer. The high marks for this bike are well deserved. I have been really impressed at how well this bike handles on a large range of terrain. This bike has been through an adventure race and survived quite a few falls and still rides great. There is still plenty of room to develop my skills on this bike. REI bike service has been outstanding. A few things of note that don’t warrant a less than 5 rating. The tires can be very hard to remove if you need to change out the inner tube. The paint does scratch pretty easily.
This has been a great bike..... after fixing poor quality control issues. The front fork was put on backwards. On my other bike purchase, the front brake cable was installed incorrectly. It was so tight it was compressing the shock.
I am a first time mountain biker and purchased this bike over Memorial Weekend 2020 (on sale). This is an excellent bike for a beginner like me. I am a 5'7" female and got the medium frame. It fits perfect. The bike itself is very good quality and really easy to ride right off the bat. The features are perfect for beginners, yet high end enough to be suitable for an intermediate, moderately avid rider like myself. I started off as an absolute novice and have been riding consistently with my bike since I purchased it and it has held up very well. I think the price point is very reasonable. I really loved the free tune up I received as well! Highly recommend this bike. Great value!
This bike is a smooth easy ride. Brakes, shifting, and suspension are all great for my skill level and riding style. I'm a mid 40s beginner rider, and I've taken the bike on several rides from paved bike trails to easy and intermediate mountain bike trails. Handles great in all situations. I didn't want to spend much on a bike (I'm cheap and not a biker) but my partner insisted I get a nicer bike that would be easier for him to make mods if needed in the future, so we compromised on the co-op bike and we're both very pleased with it. Would definitely recommend. In terms of fit, I'm a 5'3"+ female with 31" inseam and longish arms. I got the small frame size and it fits me perfect.
I nice step up from a REI brand Novaris Aspen that served me well for 20 years. The DRT 1.2 is a little heavier but the 29 inch tires, better front shock and hydraulic brakes are worth the weight when it comes to rough and sandier trails. Am 6' 3" and 60+ in age and "large" feels good. Mostly easy to moderate trail riding. A couple rides a week for exercise and to experience a little nature. Seems well built and I hope this bike and my legs will hold out for another 20 years. Has met all expectations so far.
I searched and searched for a bike to replace my trusty 26" Cannondale mountain bike. The DRT 1.2 was an exact fit to my needs. I am 66 years old, make rides of 12 to 20 miles 3 to 5 times weekly on concrete, gravel, and dirt paths. I ride up and down levees and other small hills. This bike was an off the shelf home run. No issues at all since I bought it back in November. Easy shifting and braking. Really hits flats and climbs the hills I have here. I cannot wait to take it to Colorado to hit the mountain!
Spent a year researching mt. bikes. Settled on this DRT 1.2 because it a X2. 18 speed. Has some nice upgrades and I’ve added a dropper bar/seat. Rides smooth and like the frame layout. I got the large. My inseam was in between Medium or large. Wanted bigger tires to do a little more long distance vs. technicals. (Nimble) very glad with purchase and going back to get upgrade grips.
I am a lifelong mountain bile rider. I like single track and down-hill riding and the Co-op DRT 1.2 has been amazing! I test rode a number of other brands, including various front and full suspension bikes. This bike just felt amazing compared to anything else in the 1k price range. Opted for a front suspension because it felt more lively on the trails and was much lighter. FYI, REI states tubeless ready, but REI bike shop says that you need to replace tires to accomplish the transition. However, tubeless ready means you only have to remove the tube, install tubeless valves stems and sealant and you are good to go. I felt it was worth mentioning, because it is a $150 difference between having to swap tires versus not. Bike comes with Tubeless rims and Tires, and the rims are already taped.
