I'm 5'7, 115lbs, 26" waist and got these in a size S in Royal. They fit just right!! While previous versions of these shorts had a waistband that was tighter than expected, I'd say these are true to size. The waistband has been widened a bit and does not dig in! The fabric on these is truly stellar. It is so light it's almost like not wearing shorts at all. It's that Free the Legs feeling of a dress in running shorts! These are probably my favorite running shorts of all time. They're flattering, they're comfortable, they have room to move, and they dry super, super fast. I hike in them. I run in them. I lounge in them. I toss hay bales and spread mulch in them. I even wear them to the grocery store - which is basically New York Fashion Week during the pandemic. There is nothing these shorts can't do. This new cut is a little shorter than the old one. Not too short but I certainly wouldn't want them any shorter. That being said, everything is always too short on me so it might be a me thing. These are also a little narrower through the leg than the older version. Doesn't bother me any but it may be something to keep in mind if you have more muscular legs. Overall, 10/10 recommend these shorts!!
I love these shorts, but only for running!
I wear short-shorts and typically don't like running shorts any longer than 2-2.5'', but the material on these is so thin and light that I don't notice it and can forgive the extra 0.5''. My main gripe with these shorts is the zipper and pocket along the back. The zipper is very stiff and the pocket shrinks after washing; this creates a strange bowing that is very obvious and awkward. Pictures included. It does not sit flat and looks worse when worn. My iphone xs barely fits without a case, but will not fit with the apple leather case. I imagine keys/ID would be just fine, but a phone will bounce quite a bit because of the thin material, so I prefer a separate running belt instead. And so I end up with this awkward zipper for no reason. I'm fine with this since I don't care while actively running, but I don't wear these shorts casually otherwise because it is not flattering. For size reference: 5'2, 115lb, size S. Small if you work those glutes; XS if you don't (better fit in the waist). Conclusion: these shorts are very comfortable and excellent if you only want these for running and value pure utility, but if I would look elsewhere if you want more versatility out of your shorts.
Favorite running shorts ever!!
Randomly bought these shorts while at REI, had never heard of the brand before. Tried them on and they are very lightweight and comfortable around my waist my thighs. The back zipper is too small to hold my iPhone 8plus but that is okay, it’s perfect for keys and my mask. The shorts do not constrict your thighs, which is a common issue with other running shorts because they are slightly split on the sides. They dry super quickly and are unbelievably soft! I usually wear a 0-2/25-26 in bottoms and the S was perfect, the XS was a little tight around my butt and hips. I even wore these into the pool after going on a run and had no problem worth fading.. not suggesting it but they are literally perfect for everything.
So light and comfy (and amazingly flattering)
I got these shorts in the floral print because I couldn't resist the summery pattern and had never seen anything like them (funny enough, I recently ran into someone in my neighborhood wearing the same ones who also got them from REI!!). I have a few other pieces from this brand and in addition to the design, the fabric and cut of the pieces keeps getting better and better. It's hard to describe how soft, light, and flowy the material of these shorts are. They feel amazing, stay dry even on hot runs, and the slightly wide/flowy cut of the leg is so flattering. Also, you can fit an iphone in the back pocket without it looking crazy...so appreciated. Would recommend!
My FAVORITE
These are my favorite shorts for EVERYTHING!!! I bought these thinking I’d mostly use them for paddle sports, but they have become my go to for just about everything this summer. The length is perfect for running too. I most recently completed a 1/2 marathon in these and they were great. No chafing, no hiking up in the crotch. I am planning on buying at least one more pair
Perfect Material for long runs
I love these shorts! I bought them for my first marathon in Death Valley. I wanted something light that woul dry easily. These were just what I needed. They were so light that it didn't even feel like I had a base layer on, except that they wicked the moisture of and prevent chafing. 10/10 would recommend these for long distance runners in warm climates.

I've bought many iterations of these shorts and have found sizing to be inconsistent. I usually hover between XS and S, but the last time I bought a small in these, they felt restrictive. I ended up buying a few in M of the most recent ones released and lo and behold, they fixed the sizing issue. The M was too large and the S is now an actual S! (Great return/exchange policy BTW) Anyway, these shorts are gold. Back zippered pocket, funky designs, lightweight, no necessary seams (the seams are taped, i.e. LESS CHAFING!), quick drying, lined -- this is all you need! I've owned many pairs of running shorts and these are my favorite.
Best shorts EVER--- Really!!
I have been a runner for 11 years. I have probably tried about 100 pairs of shorts at this point. These shorts are BY FAR, the best shorts I have ever used. They fit exactly right. The lines are so crisp, and the pockets are exactly where they should be. The drawstring is comfortable and extremely helpful, as I like to put my phone in my waist band. They fit true to size. I have had these shorts for about a month, and I find myself fishing them out of the laundry/ doing laundry more often so I can wear them again. I'll probably buy them in every color. You should too.
I didn’t know I could love shorts so much...
I got these shorts after being impressed with another pair of Janji shorts and loving their lightness and fit. I was starting to wear the other pair a little tooooo often so I sprung for the new pair in the fun purple floral print. These middle shorts are just short of magic. They are unbelievably light and breathable but offer good coverage and I love that they’re a little flowy and not skin tight. I don’t know what fabric they use but it is amazing - silky soft but durable - and the fit is perfect. The waistband is super comfy and the liner is solid. The pattern looks great on and I find myself wearing these for every workout and every chance in between that I can find!
Wonderful material, sizing tricky
I can't emphasize enough how light and soft these shorts are! I really wanted them to work for me, but couldn't quite get them to fit. I typically take a XS in most brands (sometimes sizing up to a S for bottoms when the item is close-fitting). These shorts do seem to run pretty small so I purchased both a S and XS. The small was a little too large all around and rode up when I moved, while the XS was too snug in the waist to be comfortable. I'm bummed! I think they'd probably work better on someone with a more typical runner's physique than they do on a gal with the legs of a cyclist.
