Has extended my camping life for years!

I've had this cot for four years and used it 108 nights. It's been to the Appalachian Trail, the Rockies, Philmont, Boundary Waters, Quetico, New River Gorge and on dozens of local treks. At 71, I can still do 10-day canoe and backpack treks and only because I have this cot to get me off the ground and give me a soft, smooth, flat place to sleep. It is pricy, but it it's my one-and-only luxury item on backcountry treks and well worth the money. I've tried three other brands, in hopes of finding a less expensive cot for other family members to use, and sent them all back. Nothing compares.

Used this expensive piece of garbage for about 3 months bike packing. I weigh 220 lbs which is below the 260lbs weight limit. I broke one of the poles when I shifted position. Unless you weigh less than 180, or plan on using this for less than 3 months avoid this expensive piece of garbage.

Easy and quick to set up

I recently bought this cot for a week long camping trip in NH. When it first came to my house It took me about 20 minutes to set up and take it apart as it is a little difficult to push in the legs to the frame. Once I went camping and I knew the set up it only took me 2 minutes to set up, and 2 minutes to take apart at the end of the trip. Its a great and comfortable cot and super light weight which is great for taking on trips. I do recommend learning how to set it up at home so it makes it easier when you take it on your trip. Great experience with the cot overall and will look for more Helinox products in the future.

Good when used with self inflating air mattress

This cot is lightweight and relatively simple to assemble. Problem is it is way too narrow by itself- my arms hang off the sides! When used with a 3” thick self inflating insulated foam air mattress, which sticks out from the sides and provides somewhere for my arms to go, only then does this cot become a comfortable sleep solution. This combo is heavenly, but the cot alone is not. Another drawback is an extreme amount of force is required to snap the legs into place, which is painful for the hands and a safety hazard. I would not recommend this cot unless weight is the number one concern. For the price I would have expected a better size.

Backcountry Luxury!

I've used this cot for backcountry camping, including a trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. As a side sleeper, this cot is definitely more comfortable than a sleeping pad. It's about 2.75lb, which is pretty light. I substituted this for my 1lb sleeping pad, and I'm only carrying an extra 1.75lb, which an acceptable weight increase given my improved sleep. I will caution that you need to be careful where you set this up, as the feet caused a small tear in my tent floor. My weight is distributed over the surface of 8 small feet instead of the entire surface of a sleeping pad- which likely caused the tear. I have used this approximately 10 night now, and am considering taking it on my next thru-hike!

Top of the line build, request a few inches wider

This cot is the highest quality of materials, craftsmanship, and design! I use a self-inflating mattress on top for optimum cushion to sleep on. The height off the floor is ideal, both allowing additional insulation from the ground and ability to sit on it totally upright without rubbing my head on the tent ceiling. I’d like to see the manufacturer offer a model a few inches wider for complete arm support while laying on back.

Best Sleep Ever!

I bought this cot several months ago and it sure does some crazy magic to my sleep. I’ve always had bad sleep in a tent, perhaps due to my side sleeping habits, waking up many times in the middle of the night; if I fall asleep I sleep really light and wake up as soon as the sun comes up. I tried different sleeping mats, try the digging the earth around the hip area trick, nothing worked. Nowadays I use this cot with a tarp setup, and I’ve never slept better before. Because there’s no direct contact with the ground, I get away with using the cheap ThermaRest Z Lite. This setup keeps me warm despite the temperature drops to low 20F at night. So glad I bought this cot. Would highly recommend!

Extremely comfortable for side sleepers

I am a side sleeper and this cot is extremely comfortable - far more so than my Nemo sleeping pad, which I always thought was quite nice. It is lightweight and packs up quite small for a cot - I would not take it backpacking, but it's quite compact relative to other cots REI sells. The only negatives are price; it is certainly NOT inexpensive, and set-up/take down. It requires significant force to snap the legs in place and the pinch risk for your hands is considerable. I now use gloves every time I put this together to avoid snagging my palm skin painfully in the legs.

Very comfortable after breaking it in a little. It's the bulkiest item I have after the tent, but being up off the ground is wonderful.

great on rocky ground when rafting

I find this cot easy to set up and take down. No pinched fingers I use my palm to snap it down using my body weight, don't close the clasp with your hands it'll pinch. A little downward pressure on the side of the cot using your palm and the clasp releases easily. It is a beautiful made quality cot. I use it with a pad for a great night sleep. The cot can be very rough on a tent floor so take something to protect your floor; I use blue foam. It is my favorite cot for rafting. Im 67 women and find it easy to set up if I use my palm not my hands.

Great investment.

I’ll pay up to go ultralight backpacking, but this luxury item was worth the weight! You need strong fingers/ thumbs to assemble. But I cut a small 2” x “2” flat piece of hardwood flooring to use for pressing the brackets in place. This gives a much larger surface area and I can use my whole palm. The first time it is set up is the hardest as the material is not stretched. I recommend setting it up a couple times at home before heading out on the trails. Best sleep and much warmer!
