Lightweight but POOR breathability

I bought this jacket couple of months back but used it yesterday for the first time for an 8 mile easy run in cold, windy but dry conditions. I had a half sleeve wicker t-shirt underneath. After barely mile and half of running I had sweat dripping down my hands. At first I thought I was imagining it, but I wasn't; I could feel sweat gathering near the elbow areas and every time I dropped my arms low, the sweat would trickle down from arms/elbows to hands/fingers and then onto the ground. It was not nice. This was my first, and probably last, Salomon jacket purchase. Really disappointed by the poor breathability of the material.

Thank you for coming back to us with valuable information about the use of the product. We are always open for feedback that helps us improve products. This product is not great for breathability, but it was made for running. With a mid layer combined in normal temperatures the sweating issue should not occur. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information on layering and product use in different weather!

Lightweight and an excellent waterproof

For the first time ever I feel compelled to write a second review to compensate for an earlier poor/negative feedback I left couple of days back. There was heavy downpour throughout this morning and I went out for an 18 miles run with this jacket over a long-sleeve wicker shirt. The jacket kept my torso fantastically protected from wind and rain and yet the jacket is so light weight I hardly felt I was wearing it (except the unavoidable swishing sound one gets when one is wearing a hood while running). For the kind of weather we had today (constant rain and temperatures in 10C-12C) the jacket did a superb job and I was really pleased with it. So I take back what I wrote couple of days ago.

Great light, waterproof jacket

I’ve used it FL during torrential downpours each afternoon (give or take) and it definitely lives up to the freedom of movement and weather protection. Haven’t had a chance to use it as a layer but I’m sure it’ll be good over a light sweater or long shirt. The one issue I’d say is the length of the waist. It could stand to be an inch or so longer because my regular T-shirts come out of the bottom. Not a huge issue, just a polishing point for looks

Dissapointed

I bought this fr a charity hike of 40 miles over the Brecon Beacons In Wales. Initial Initial overview was great quality.how ever on the second day and in pretty harsh weather I was completely soaked through. And remained so for a further 24hrs.I felt that based on its rating of storm proof did not offer the protection advertised.A shower or so.Yes.Anything heavy.Move on.Not fit for purpose. And this Is not a cheap Item.So over all disappointed.

Recommend Salomon Bonatti

Great fit, sheds rain without holding excessive moisture inside. Use primarily for running and the jacket offers good range of motion. I am 5'-10" 140lbs and men's medium is perfect fit. Normally do not like the fit of hoods on rain jackets but this one works very well--has elastic fit that moves with my head and small bill works reasonably well to keep light rain off my face. Very light weight and quick drying material.

As good as I was told!

I'd heard this jacket recommended so many times but finally got to try it for a hike along the South Downs Way. Now I understand why! On a blustery but relatively warm day, it was just the job. Kept me perfectly dry in showers but also didn't make me overheat. Snug comfy fit (I am 6ft 1" and medium was perfect) too. Nice touches like really comfy pocket liners are a quality touch!

Just Add Water

I purchased this jacket because I needed a jacket that was both compact for throwing in my bag to take along my commute and completely waterproof in case I get stuck in the rain. This jacket is perfect. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but it’s super light (great for Texas summers), looks great, and is completely waterproof. It goes to work with me on all office days.

Light weight and very durable

For a relatively low price, this jacket has really delivered for me. I've worn it out on the trail through down pours and surprise snow storms and it has kept me very dry, but is also breathable. Also a great jacket to wear around the city since it packs so small. Pretty good for warmth as well on early spring/windy days. Highly recommended!

Love it - but I haven't truly tested it yet

I have been pleasantly surprised by the jacket. It is super light and a great fit. I was most concerned it would be heavy and thick, but its not at all. I have yet to test it in downpour weather, but so far it has been a great purchase. I can't give it 5 stars until I've tested it.

My favorite waterproof jacket

Hands down my most favorite waterproof jacket for running. I tend to wear it for daily uses too. Rain in the jacket in down pour rain and my inner layer stayed dry. Although it might run warm in the summer but for colder seasons it’s also a great jacket to stay warm in
