Love the way that wool feels breathes - legs big

Thank you REI for carrying 3X, now you just need to carry many more cute clothes and get over fatphobia. I really like these, the merino is soft not itchy and breathes unlike synthetics. The workmanship is excellent. Also unlike synthetics these will not cause plastic micro pollutions - would love to see more cotton and wool and less petroleum product wear. These are true to half size larger in the waist, love that they have a high inseam. The legs are not fitted however and are loose so would not probably work very well under jeans. I wear mine as leggings and love them for that. They are also super long - a plus for the amazons but baggy ankles for the petite. - still love them though they could use a few tweeks. I wouldn't mind if they had pockets. Will buy more.

comfy lounge wear - not good for anything active

These are super cozy for lounge wear...though it's hard to justify the price for that. the fit is too far off to be used for hiking or anything active. the waist is correct, but the rest is too large & they are very very long. If you're 5'9+ these are probably the right length for you, for anyone shorter be prepared for bulky excess around your ankles. I sized up in these because the rise in the XL is WAY too low. The rise on the 2X is a decent mid rise but the baggy legs mean they're no good for active wear.

Thanks for carrying plus size!

Love that they had these in plus size. I actually sized down from 2x to 1x. They were incredibly warm, I wore them as a base layer under snow pants while hiking a glacier and under jeans in Reykjavik. They worked well for me sizing down, but they were still very long so I folded over the ends. I'm 5'2. I liked the REI ones better for most of the trip, but these were warmer for the very cold days/activities and they looked more like leggings if I wore them on there own.

Cozy but very long

I love how soft and cozy these are! These are perfect for cold weather nights on the trail. I wouldn't wear them under anything while actively hiking though because of the excess length. I'm not tall, just fat lol.

I basically live in these now.

What can I say? These are the long johns of my dreams. I love the high waist, they're actually long enough, they're soft, warm and breathable, yadayadayada. You know, all the things we love about Smartwool, for your legs. I wear them around the house, camping, and when the weather gets a bit nicer they'll be my backpacking sleep leggings.

Smartwool in my size! Yay!

Thanks to REI and Smartwool for partnering to offer plus sizes. I finally have base layers that actually fit well. I love merino wool and always wanted these - I am overjoyed that they're now made in my size! I'm looking forward to being much warmer on my next camping trip.

Great base layer for winter camping

I really love these! They keep me super warm and worked great when I went winter camping! Also a 10/10 for layering. They fit very nicely and are long enough which is a problem for me sometimes especially with base layers. (I’m 5’11” for reference)

I buy these a size larger and wear them as PJ's along with a smartwool long sleeved undershirt. I'm a 74 year old female. Perfect.
