Knowing that my Zamberlan Steep’s would need new soles this year and unwilling to go without a hiking boot in their absence I sprung for these. It is obvious that Zamberlan did their homework in setting up their factory in Vietnam for this product. The boot fits just like my Steep’s: wide in the toes and snug at the heel. Although this is a lighter weight boot it has a true 3/4 length shank that gives the sole a real stiffness. Since it’s a lighter boot all I need is one pair of light hiking socks. I just hiked 5 miles with steep uphills (and downhills), about 600 ft of elevation gain and also did some side hill walking. No ankle rolls and complete control and comfort. I’ve been buying Zamberlan boots made in Italy exclusively for over 20 years but if the tag in these new boots wasn’t there proclaiming made in Vietnam l never would have known.
Love the boots. All the negative reviews here almost got me not to buy. This is definately a comfortable hiking boots. Pair with some smartwool phd socks. This shoe is true to size
I ordered a Men's size 8 as I wear a Women's 9.5/10 or a Men's 8/8.5. The Men's size 8 was too large--it fit like a Men's 9 in other brands. The footbed also felt extremely uncomfortable to me so I had my husband try them on (to see if it was just me). He has zero foot issues and pretty much finds everything comfortable so I wanted his opinion. He said these were awful--and, he has owned/currently has other pairs of Zamberlan boots that he uses for long backpacking treks.
Have not hiked yet but like how they are comfortable and not heavy. So far so good with keeping dry shoveling snow.
arrived today. boot seems like a fine boot but if you are going to put a finger loop on the back of a boot be sure it allows a normal sized finger to slip inside. My fingers are small for a man who wears size 10 boots but I cannot put any finger but my pinky into the loop, making it worthless. Such a hassle to return a boot just b/c that skimping on a half-inch of material makes the boot too hard to put on.
