Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great jacket for cold, wet weather
I've used this jacket for several weeks now and so far so good. I find the jacket to be quite warm, to the point where I've only worn a long sleeve shirt underneath for temperatures down to the mid-20s F (I don't get cold easily, so your mileage may vary). The jacket's GTX exterior is great for rain, snow, and sleet. I was dry after several wet dog walks.I haven't gone skiing with jacket yet, but I would have no reservations. The fit is decent. I'm tall and thin and find it difficult to pick a size for just about any clothing. The large has great sleeve length but it's a bit big in the body, which isn't so bad if I need to add a layer or two underneath it.
Good quality, weird sizing.
I want to love this jacket, it's some really nice features. Good quality drawcords, velcro cuffs on the sleeves, nice assortment of pockets, good insulation and the fabric is nice. One issue I have is the hood adjustment. It's sized for a helmet, and you can't really make it smaller, just tighter around the head. But the biggest problem is the sizing. I don't understood the idea of a 6'+ person wearing a M, but yet, that's what works here according to their models and size specs. Except it doesn't. The jacket binds a bit under the arm pits, and I'm guessing that's because of my normal 42 chest, vs the 41 upper range in the medium. Switching to the large though, then gives me a jacket that is massive, with sleeves that come down to my knuckles and enough room for two coats under this one. Since I got it half off, it's worth it, but I wouldn't pay full price.
Just Right
Really good jacket. Might have given it 5 stars, but haven’t had it more than a few days. Have been out walking the dog in 30 degree Northeast weather and with one light weight sweater underneath it was just fine. Feels light and has good deep outside pockets for gloves, etc. Fit is fine too. At 5’10 and 200 lbs the Large size is good for me. Not tight yet not too roomy. Another reviewer of similar size and weight says it’s much too large for him/her. Hard to believe we’re talking about the same jacket! Anyway, off the clearance rack at $148 it seems like a really good buy.
Value-Packed and Versatile
I've read, like many before me, about the fit on this jacket, so I'll start there. I run right at the borderline between a Medium and Large in most non-Arc'Teryx companies (solid L in everything Arc), depending on how the jacket is cut and sleeve length (6'1", 200), and was able to try this on in-store. If I wanted to use this solely on its own I would have gone for the Medium, it absolutely had enough room for a fleece and maybe a paper-thin insulated layer over that if I wanted to squeeze it in there. However, I wanted this to be a top layer for walking the dogs on those bitter cold days where the wind is really blowing and I could toss something underneath. The Large is absolutely the correct fit for that use case, and having worn it on its own just over a t-shirt/flannel, I wouldn't even begin to say I'm drowning in it. Bottom zip makes it easy to wear in the car as well. On to warmth - I would say that this is good by itself down to the low 20s if you run warm (I tend to), or are being semi-active. The hood is easy to adjust so that it actually provides some shelter in the face of wind and precipitation as well. Waterproofing/DWR - faultless so far, although admittedly early on. Took the dogs on an extended walk with constant heavy drizzle/light rain, and was able to shake everything off when I got inside, with only minor wetting out on the cuff latches and hood. Good early indicators. Now for quality - I agree that the zipper is not the absolute best zipper I've ever touched, but I have no real complaints for the price. Only takes a few attempts to feel out how far you need to have the lower zipper, and I haven't had any issues since day 1 getting it on/off. Overall, I think if you know what this jacket is good at, and know what it isn't, this is a wonderful jacket. Normally I'm content with letting other reviews speak for me if something is exactly what I expected, but having been skeptical when I entered the store to walking out with it, this jacket has absolutely surpassed my expectations from a quality and fit standpoint.
Color and fit are both great!
Just purchased this coat on a clearance sale. Wonderful price for the features (GoreTex!, insulated and pit zips). Found the fit to be excellent. Works over a shirt, but with enough room for a light to mid weight sweater or fleece. I love the copper spice heather color. In addition to wearing around town, I plan to use the coat next deer season. Should be perfect for Texas winters.
Great Warm Lightweight Jacket!
Coat fits extremely well, wind proofing and waterproofing is great. The 2-way zipper can be a little tricky to get started and seems a little small for the jacket. Length is great, sleeve adjustments could be better. Hood is a little on the large size and I realize it is meant to cover a helmet, but when a helmet is not in use it can cover your eyes. Overall just what I was looking for, lightweight and warm.
Great, except the quality of the pockets.
Great jacket and I loved it but pockets quality is bad. I returned of these jackets, in both pockets tore during regular city wearing. It is sad that REI uses such cheap material for pockets in the otherwise great product.
great jacket, roomy fit
I would like to do an actual review and touch on fit and function. Another review stated how roomy this jacket fit. That I can agree. With a xxl I found the sleeves to be a bit long and more than enough room in the torso. Shoulder room is often a deciding factor when choosing and I felt this has plenty. I’ve been blessed with a moderately short stocky build at 5’10” and 250 lbs with a 50” chest. It seems to be getting more difficult to find the fit I’m looking for when the industry is trending to more trim fitting clothing. So the loose fit ,in my case, is welcome as I will be layering underneath on colder days. As far as function is concerned, I feel it checks all the boxes. Waterproof, lightly insulated synthetic fill, pit zips, plenty of pockets and a roomy cut for layering. The Gore-Tex fabric seems on par with any other jacket in this category. I just used this jacket for running errands on a chilly, rainy, forty degree day and it performed well. This is what I bought this jacket for. Mostly casual around town use and low output activities like hiking or walking the dog on cold wet days. Cross country skiing or fat biking, way to heavy you’ll be to warm. Standing around on really cold days in the teens, you’ll need to layer. A minor nitpick is that the hand pockets are not insulated or fleece lined. This jacket fills a gap in my winter wardrobe somewhere between my Stormhenge and my Revelcloud. The sale price helped me pull the trigger on this purchase. Even at full price it is still a good buy compared to higher end name brands. Overall I’m happy with my purchase. Clydesdales rejoice!
I'll take 2, seriously.
I am tempted to buy another one of these just to keep for when mine finally wears out. Fit's a little large so I went with a small when I usually do a medium but I think the US size standards are changing again(?) Also went with the sedona red rocks colors where I usually go blue. Jacket is very handsome and rugged and durable and waterproof. Looks great on a date even, not too "outdoorsy" looking.
good overall, minor issues
I got this about a month ago and overall am satisfied. It keeps the rain and cold out, is a good, simple coat to through on in winter and handles most conditions. Style is good and a good blend of style and function without too much flash or technical style. I got it on sale, which caught my eye as I needed a coat to suit a number of basic purposes and didn’t want to spend a ton. Don’t think I’ll use this for downhill skiing as the fit is too big and bulky, definitely not for running, cycling, etc. All in all a good purchase for knocking a round town and such but could be a little better with a few tweaks. As others noted, the fit is generous, consider going down a size as the cut around the torso and elsewhere is broad. However, that leaves plenty of room for layers, which can be good because while it’s a warm jacket, the insulation won’t keep the cold out below 20 or so. The Gore Tex works great, as expected. Style is typical REI styling in that it’s good for around town but not going to wow anyone. It could use more interior pockets for zipping in a wallet and smaller stuff; as it is it has only the big stretch web pockets. The gray color is nice and looks good. I considered the rust color but it looks different up close than the pictures: it isn’t a regular rust, it seems to be an off-magenta or something with a little purple? Anyway, I didn’t like it even though normally I gravitate toward orange colors.
