I'm 5'1" so this fit me perfectly and I had room to fold a leg up if I felt like it. After my boyfriend bought this for me for our trip in mid-June, I read a few reviews online about people being cold, so I was a bit concerned. We backpacked/camped in Inyo and Sequoia National Forest around Mt. Whitney, mid-June 2020, and it worked perfectly. Though I'd guess that the weather didn't drop below 40º at night...possibly high 30s when we were near 13,000 ft above treeline below Mt. Whitney. **Recommendations: 1. Sleep on a super thick Sea to Summit Comfort Plus sleeping pad! I didn't feel the ground, which was probably freezing at night and may have helped keep me much warmer than other reviewers. 2. Store earplugs in the tiny zip pocket!
I have to say that I did a lot of research before I buy this sleeping bag because I was tying to find the perfect one for me . Unluckily this was not the case . I used to go hiking and camping in different places and sometimes not just in the mountains and I was really upset that after it took me days to find what I thought it was the perfect sleeping bag for me this one is just not warm enough not even inside of a cabin . I always need to use another blanket to keep me warm when it’s below 50 F (10C) which is not accurate what it said the tag. I have to say I loved the space in my legs and the petite size is great for me but it’s not not warm enough and I can’t return it now because I travel for more than a year and now it’s too late . That make me really sad
Though the spec says it fits up to 66 inches, I am only 5' 3.5'' and it is not comfortable unless you like to sleep with your feet flexed, which is unnatural, so it's a light tight. The color is really cute and I love that it has a pouch for the air pad to fit in to so you don't slide off.
* I purchased the Roxy Ann 15 back in June 2018 through the REI used gear program. Now that i have been through a couple seasons with it I am compelled to leave my impressions. I will preface this with the fact that I am naturally a super cold sleeper. Even paring with the insulated Q-core Delux pad this bag is NOT rated for even close to 15. My camping season located in Juneau, Alaska is primarily in the spring/summer/fall with lows of 40 degrees F. This bag even in the forest service cabins equiped with propane heat still gets cold! With the heafty price tag, espeially if you bought it new I expected much better performance. The Big Agnes sleep system was a game changer for me and i will contine to use this model on the very warm trips in the summer. I'm now stuck looking for another model to fill the 0-35 degree slot so i can contine to spend more enjoyable time in the outdoors without freezing my fanny off.
This bag is beautifully designed! My absolute favorite feature is that you can slide your sleeping pad into this sleeve on the bottom of the sleeping bag. For someone who is always moving (especially in my sleep), it is really helpful that I can't slide off my pad and wake up on the ground. You need to make sure to have an insulated pad (maybe the reason some of the other reviewers were cold at night.) You also wanted to make sure to get the right size bag because if the bag is too big you will have cold feet. Overall, I am super happy with this bag. Definitely recommended!
Yes I’m a cold sleeper. Temps at night went down to 33 degrees and I woke up shivering several times. I even tried sleeping with a nalgene full of hot water. I had my wool base layers on and a baclava. STILL COLD! I have used this bag in the summer though and have been fine. I guess that should have been my first clue right there! I do use it with the QLX sleeping pad. It is very cozy and even the short one is too long, I’m 5’2”. It is an EXCELLENT quality bag for ABOVE 45 degrees.
I bought this bag not too long ago after replacing my old sleeping bag, which had hundreds of days in it. I love my Big Agnes sleeping pad and decided to try out one of their bags. I am so full of regret purchasing this 15 degree sleeping bag. I have never been so cold sleeping outside, even with my very old sleeping bags that have worn down fill. The Big Agnes RoxyAnn2017 is not nearly warm enough for a 40 degree night in arid temperatures along the Rocky Mountain west. I feel like I wasted my money and am not recommending it to anyone. I guide both backpacking and rock climbing, coming across several clients who ask about my gear and guidance what to buy in the outdoor market. Sad disappointment Big Agnes.......
I LOVE this bag. I am 5'7", a side-sleeper and got the petite bag to help save on space and weight for backpacking. I'm really surprised with the negative reviews. I paired this with the coordinating big agnes insulated pad and have had virtually no problems. Perhaps the issue is that people are misunderstanding temperature ratings for sleeping bags. 15 degrees means it will keep you alive to that temperature... that doesn't mean you'll be comfortable. I've stayed nice and toasty down to about 40 degrees in this bag. I did spend one night in it which got near freezing - I chose to sleep with my filter to ensure it didn't freeze - and I wasn't warm, but didn't freeze. I did wish I'd used a liner this night. Otherwise, I adore this bag. I love love love the pad sleeve and the pillow pocket - TOTAL game changers.
You would think that if you pay $250+ for a 15° down sleeping bag that you would be comfortable and warm at 40 degrees right? I used this bag for two weekends where the overnight lows were around 40° . I used the bag with Big Agnes' QCore SLX insulated pad as recommended. I got so cold both times that I needed to wear my down jacket in addition to my longsleeve base layer. When I bought the equipment from Big Agnes I was reassured that they back their products 100%. When I returned the bag to Big Agnes I was offered an 80% credit. I chose not to put that credit towards another sleeping bag as my confidence in their products has waned. In the future I will be buying all of my gear from REI as they back their products 100%.
I'm giving this an average rating only because I have not been able to use it as it's designed. I bought this bag online at the end of summer 2017 and put it away for the year. We didn't backpack for two years due to injuries that needed rehabilitating. I recently pulled this bag out of the closet and realized it has no down on the bottom because it's intended to have a sleeping pad inserted. I have no recollection of this feature being listed in the description or shown in product pictures. I sleep on a cot when I backpack, so this bag will not work for me. Unfortunately, even though the tags are still on it, it is too late to return it and I'm stuck with it. I'm bummed because it's an otherwise nice, light and warm sleeping bag. I especially like that it is short so that I'm not cold from the extra fabric at my feet. Back to the drawing board...
