My Third Bison--USA made--Highest Quality
Ever say to yourself: How come they don't make high quality stuff in the USA like they did years ago? Well, now they do! Bison is made in the USA of the highest quality by Americans. This is my 3rd Belt. I have the Web Belt from REI, then the Web Police/Firefighters/Hikers Heavy Duty Velcro not sold by REI but direct from Bison--this Velcro secure belt I wear for hiking, sports, cycling 100% of the time. Then I was shopping in REI and saw they had the genius to sell this Bison Leather belt. This Belt is a Man's Man's belt. High quality USA thick Leather with a strong buckle. You can use this belt for dress, hiking, casual--whatever. It's not like those low quality weak imported belts from designers that will last a few weeks or months--this is a Strong Man's Belt. I have been all over the malls countless times and it depressing how poor imported quality is especially on leather belts. This is the type of belt that a real man wears--from back in the day when men were men. I highly recommend it. This type of quality is very hard to find. If REI offered me 3x what I paid for it to return it--I would turn that down. If you are real man get it! and if you are looking for a great present for a real man--get it!
Weak loop
Have enjoyed Bison nylon belts for decades and thought the price for this USA-made leather belt seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, the leather loop by the buckle came apart the first time I tried it on. It's only secured by a small bit of metal with prongs folded over on one side and can be pulled apart easily. For the price I think this could be more permanently attached. I don't see this lasting many years.
Peeling Apart
Overall, the belt is sturdy and strong. It does make a lot of squeaking noises when you move, so that may bother you. What I am most disappointed in is the plastic(?) trim on the edges that is peeling. Being a $50 belt, I did not expect that. Otherwise, overall strong belt.
Nice, but turns EVERYTHING BROWN!
This is a nicely made belt, but it turns everything it touches BROWN! I have tried wiping this belt down with a wet rag again and again, trying to get whatever the residue is off of it, with no luck. It stains my pants brown, it left a big brown stain on my sofa, it leaves a brown stain on everything it touches. I cannot wear this belt because of this brown staining problem.
Stains pants!
This belt has stained all my pants. The back side of the belt seems fine, but when you sit at a desk most the day, your pants bunch up a little on the front of belt. That's the problem, as the coloring is rubbing off the front of the belt. Easily. It took me a while to figure out what was happening, and now I'm just hoping the brown color comes out of all my pants. Very unhappy.
Built Like a Tank, Looks Like a Million Bucks
This belt is exactly what I was looking for - rugged yet refined. The full-grain leather is thick and substantial without being stiff, and it's already developing a beautiful patina after a few months of wear. The buckle has a solid feel with no wobble, and I appreciate that it's not overly flashy. The sizing was spot-on (as indicated on the size chart), and the leather has held its shape perfectly with no stretching or warping. Whether I'm wearing it with jeans for weekend hikes or business casual at the office, it looks equally appropriate. Definitely worth the investment for a belt that's built to last.
Good belt with one flaw.
I love this belt. It’s not too thick that it’s stiff and unforgiving, but not too thin so that it’s flimsy. My only complaint is the little leather loop before the buckle broke. It is only held on by a single staple instead of being sewn to tge belt or riveted to it. It was just a cheap short cut in my opinion. Other than that, the belt has held up well.
Not what I was hoping for
This seems like a fine belt, but frankly I think the photo was misleading. I ordered the brown one online. If I had seen it in the store I would not have bought it. The leather appears to be of a lower quality in real life. I'm not sure how to describe it other than it looks and feels like faux leather (not saying that's what it is, only that it looks that way). Overall I felt like it was going to be a higher quality product based on the photograph and the price. I will be returning it.
Buy it for life
I got one of these in brown and then another in black a short while later so that I can properly match. I wear size 32 pants and got size 34 belts and have been very happy with them. The leather is soft and this leads to my only issue which is that they are deforming a bit more than I'd like in the middle in the back due to pants with only a single loop in the back. That said, I'll happily keep wearing them and expect them to last for decades.
Order a size up!
Maybe I don't buy belts enough, but this belt is too small if you order it to your pant size. Order a size up. Other than that good quality.
