My new must-have item
I cannot sleep on airplanes, so a typical travel pillow is not worth the weight or bulk to carry around with me. But there are times when late night flights or general fatigue make it really desirable to at least rest eyes/head or try to doze off. This pillow is amazing for it's compact size and weight, plus the added features of great inflation/deflation valves and a nice storage case. I can confirm that if you inflate it before takeoff, the pressure will build as your plane ascends, but that's where the adjustment valve is great for letting a little air out. Be sure you are familiar with the valves and which one is which. Once the plane is dark, it will be hard to tell.
Comfortable, compact and supportive.
It took some ruminating to finally spend this kind of coin on what is essentially an upgraded version of the $10 inflatable I've been using for the past twenty years but it IS an upgrade!. It's low profile at the back so my head isn't being pushed forward and the front snap keeps it snugly in place which I didn't realize I needed until I bought this. Easy to inflate, deflate, adjust and it's just plain comfortable and supportive. I'm short and fat with an 18" neck so it's snug on the last snap but definitely not uncomfortable. It took a bit of practice (3 times) to get it to fit back inside the case but I'm a pro now and completely sold on this thing. Two thumbs up.
Nice little inflatable pillow but...
Well made, light and tiny when deflated...love that. Folds into it case easily. Sturdy valve works like an inflatable boat valve: small one-way valve to blow in and large one to let air out quickly. Feels like it won't start leaking the 3rd time you use it. I like that you can snap it around your neck (or not). I would have given a 5 star rating except that the center arch, the part that goes behind your neck, is narrower than I'm used to. There's not a lot of support for the neck and back of the head. Otherwise it's comfortable to use. After using it on two long flights, I got used to the way it fit, slept well and decided it's a keeper because of its high quality and small size.
Great for airplanes but a hammock game changer
I bought two of these for my trip to Europe with Mom. We both used them a lot in conjunction with an eye mask. I saw lots of people traveling around with foam/filler style neck pillows on my two week journey, I don't see myself lugging one of those around clipped to the outside of the bag, dragging all over every surface. Inflatable is the only way to go and Sea to Summit does it pretty darn well. After my trip I tried it out in my hammock not expecting much but it changed my life. Being a full time hammock sleeper this is a game changer for me. Be careful about falling asleep with this on an airplane as it is reaching cruising altitude. I fell asleep and woke up being choked out by my pillow. Also, is that price justified?
Just Pack One
It's expensive for what you get but you want to have one in your bag just in case you need to sleep on the plane or airport sitting in a chair. It's very light and takes up very little room. It's comfortable enough to use and sleep but not as comfortable as the big ones stuffed with memory foam. It's a tradeoff--but less is more in travel. I blew mine up and it held 90% of the air 24 hours later--that's good. It's very easy to blow up and if you open the valve all the air is out in seconds without having to squeeze it for 10 minutes. Tip--Leave the valve open when you are putting it back in the case--it won't fit if there is any air left in it. Just get it and keep it in your carry-on is my suggestion unless you can sleep in a chair without one. I also use it for car travel if I am tied and need to pull over and sleep. Packaging says Made in China.
broke on first trip
Sea to Summit has some fantastic products but not this. The valve tore out of the pillow on the first use causing it to deflate. I’m sure REI will stand behind it but that does not help when I’m in South America and have a long flight home. Now I’m stuck hauling this piece of garbage back to the states and have nothing to comfortably rest my head on going home. BS. Should have purchased a 15$ version from Amazon. I was hoping for $40 well spent on a quality product. I would send a photo but there is no option here.
Really like this
Love it because it packs really small and my problem with travel pillows was having to fit them into my luggage during the trip. But, it was my first inflatable travel pillow, and because the air pressure changes during the flight, I didn’t realize the pillow would get more stiff as well. I needed to de inflate and adjust a couple times over a six hour flight. But I feel like the pack ability was worth it.
A Must For Frequent Fliers
First of all, the sleeping neck pillow is packable, pouch is half the size of your phone. You can put it in your pocket or backpack without taking much space. Material feels nice to skin and doesn’t feel cheap at all. The pillow is very comfortable as it claims. Only thing is that you need to deflate it completely before packing it in it’s small pouch. This is where the design could’ve been improved, make the pouch slightly bigger. Otherwise it is used constantly during flights
Nice pillow, not so nice price.
I used the pillow on a long flight. Like other Sea to Summit pillows, it easy to inflate and adjust the firmness. I do think the pillow is over-priced. A price around $35.00 seems more appropriate. Very nice product though. It is well-made with comfortable materials. Sea to Summit does it right when it comes to inflatable pillows.
Very good on an 11 hour air flight.
My partner and I used this on a trans Pacific flight. He prefers it as it can be adjusted and has a cooler temperature than foam. Excellent for packing light. It didn't close enough around my neck for comfort. If it had added adjustable straps to fasten it to the seat back it would work much better. Overall, good product.
