My go-to liners for biking
I love how lightweight they are compared to other styles. Padding is the perfect thickness and extremely comfortable. My favorite aspect is the pockets. They are the perfect size for my phone and/or wallet. I haven’t seen pockets on many other models. Plus the price is great, like half the cost of others and just as comfortable. Only giving 4 stars due to the sizing. I wear a 36 waisted and the large is way too tight. I literally wrapped them the first time I put them on. The XL fits great, even though their sizing chart says the XLs are for a size 42 waste. The sizing obviously runs small. Other than that these are my favorite pair to wear. I own 3 pairs so I can use them most days.

Well-built, functional, but hot.
I've been riding these for three seasons now. As padded liners go they're alright, and you can't beat the price. They let you wear normal cargo shorts while riding, which is a big thumbs up for me. No complaints about the quality of the fabric or stitching either. But I do have two criticisms: first, the pad isn't as aggressive as it might be; I still get sore after a few hours. Admittedly, some of that might be down to the fact that they're 3 years old now. But the real drawback is that they feel like my mid-section is tightly wrapped in Saran Wrap. Hot, hot, hot; very steamy and uncomfortable. I have to fill them with powder to stand it, and on hot days, replenish it on the road. I suspect the chafing problems I have are also linked to this. Applying and re-applying chafing cream makes the thing doable, but doesn't eliminate chafing on the pressure points. The fact that it's like a sauna in there clearly isn't helping the cream. If I get off the bike to walk around, I have to find a place to strip the dang things off, or they're utterly unlivable. In short (no pun intended), the ventilation and sweat transfer here leaves something to be desired.

Surprisingly Functional

Was pleasantly surprised with how secure my keys, ID, and phone stayed in my pocket while on a moderate ride. While I can't speak to how they would perform on mountain or gravel, everything felt snug while on (a fairly bumpy) road. Padding prevented any pain while on a 1.5 hr ride. For reference, I'm 6'2, 185 with a ~33in waste and an average/athletic build. In other words, I tend to fall somewhere between a Medium and Large, and I'm happy I decided to gamble on a Medium (I use the word gamble since the packaging for this product inexplicably lacks any type of sizing chart). I figured the medium would offer a more secure/snug fit and so far I'm pleased with my choice.

They fit well and the pockets are secure.

I wear 32" or 33" waist pants (depending on the brand) and got the medium. They fit nicely. Not too snug, but snug enough to stay still. The legs have not ridden up on me at all. I've used the pockets to hold my phone and keys. The first time I was a little scared, checking my phone what felt like every other minute. The second ride, I forgot the phone was in my pocket at all until halfway through the ride where I frantically checked for it, finding it had not moved at all. The padding isn't super thick, but gives me enough that my 15-20 mile rides are comfortable to the end. For the price, these are pretty amazing.

A Must

For MTB I went without liners for a while, but after having used them for a few seasons I wont ride without them. These are good entry level liners. If your rides as under 2 hours, in my experience these are great. I only MTB and don't road bike so I dont have any feedback on that. I have an older version that didn't have the side pockets. I think they are a nice addition, though since I wear MTB pants with plenty of pockets I don't have a use for them. Yes, after or before the ride, it is a bit awkward wearing them. You do feel like you are wearing a diaper, but nobody can tell so there is no need to be insecure about it. I have a few pairs and wash them after every ride and they have held up very well.

They Work But It's Worth Upgrading

First pair of liner shorts. After improving my seat position, then upgrading my saddle I decided to try out a pair of liner shorts to provide more comfort on my longer rides. Out of frugality and general satisfaction with REI branded equipment I bought a pair. While they provided more comfort in the saddle the chamois feels extremely cumbersome once off the bike. My next pair of shorts were Pearl Izumi Selects and they are well worth the extra $15. Much better fit, with thinner chamois that provides more comfort on the bike.

Great fit, good padding

I use the liners under some casual street shorts that I like to ride in. The fit really well, stay in place (no riding up the legs) and are comfortable. The padding is less than in some of my cycling shorts, which I notice on longer rides. The advantage is you don't feel like you're wearing diapers with these on. If you're looking for a thinner, less bulky padded liner these will work really well.

Good value - descent product.

The price is definitely hard to beat. I've not had them long enough to comment on long-term durability, but no problems after several hundred miles. I was a tad disappointed to discover that there was no silicon on the inside of the leg openings to prevent riding up, but I realize that silicone may irritate some. For those of us who wear leggings (instead of sunblock) it's an important detail. No biggie, I can add it myself. The padding is adequate and the polyester and spandex breathes nicely, but after a 60 or 70 mile ride the padding chaffed a little. A little anti-chafe cream (Chamois Butt'r, specifically) solved that that issue. Overall, these shorts are a good value. I'm deducting a half a star, but I'd recommend this product,

Comfortable but Not Durable

I bought these for road biking, they work great as intended. Material is on the thinner/lighter side, I find them breathable but could be a little transparent. They are really comfortable and the chamois in these are pretty good, nothing amazing. The side pockets are fantastic. Holds everything I’d normally put in a jersey pocket (keys, phone, wallet). The only downside to these: lacking in durability. After using them twice, 2 20 mile rides, they are starting to fall apart. The seams/thread is coming undone around the chamois and there is a small hole right on the back side. I machine washed them once and then washed them once by hand. I’d probably only buy these again if I were in a real pinch, otherwise I’d put my money toward some better bib shorts to begin with.

Waistband issues

Like many other mentioned, the waistband leaves much to be desired. It sat loose around the waist and after 1 wash, the seam in the middle of the back started scratching me and became unwearable. That said, maybe I got a bad pair since I don’t see the same scratching issue. Besides that, I was actually quite happy with the shorts. The pockets on the sides were great for additional storage on a ride.

Shorts run smaller than you think

Nice shorts but a medium is still too tight for a 34 inch waist.
