Sizing Notes

For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Excellent boot

These boots are a must have. I have put 1 full season on them and am starting season 2. They broke in at about 20 miles but were pretty comfortable out of the box. The ability to use pro crampons with the toe welts is a great advantage. They will keep your feet warm even in very cold temperatures. The Vibram soles are very nice and show zero signs of wear in about 150 miles of use. They are on the heavier side so know that if you want lighter you will need to spend more. The fit is true to size in my experience. Overall I'd rate them 4.5 but bumped it up to 5 because they don't allow halves.

BEST BOOT EVER!

• I am a very active, big guy at just over 300 lbs and I love these boots. They are the first boot that has held up to the rigors of my outdoor adventures and unique work. • This is my second pair, versatile, long lasting, comfortable support and I wear them often. I can go all day without discomfort. • My last pair are in great shape and are roughly five years old? ...as long as the quality remains, I will never buy another name brand. It is rare in life to say that I have found a brand that I can depend on. La Sportiva Nepal Evo is the perfect boot for me.

My go to winter boot

I have had these for close to 10 years now (there was some time when my hiking was limited). I bought these primarily to accept crampons while hiking in the White Mountains of NH in winter. I'm now out Summit County Colorado, the middle of the Rockies. I've pulled these out of storage and there's nothing else I'd wear. These are holding up strong. I really like the support which helps with a weakened ankle due to torn ligaments. Not as much need for crampons out here as in NH, but they work great with my MSR Lightning Ascent snowshoes. I liked these so much I recently bought a pair of the Trangos, to replace the 3 season boots I wore out.

Great all around winter boot!

I got these a couple years ago and are the most expensive peice of gear I have ever bought. They have proven to be well worth every penny. I have used them to snowshoe at 11,000' when it was 20 degrees out for 6 miles. Used them to hike several 13,000 peaks including a 9 mile day with crampons. Feet always stay dry, not to hot and not cold with a single pair of wool socks. Going to take them snowmobiling tomorrow.

adds 3 inches to my height

From age 3 to 12 I subsisted on a diet solely of Mountain Dew, Mentos (the freshmaker) and Doritos and my height was significantly stunted. Wearing these boots adds 3 inches to my height, I am a geisha in a small Japanese village and now I am almost as tall as the other geishas. Without these boots adding to my height I would be a social outcast for being so short. Also, the hiking here in Hokkaido is marvelous and these boots perform quite well in our snowy winters. I can hike in the snow and my feet stay warm and I can also wade in the streams in summer without getting my feet wet.

Great WA mountaineering boot

These boots work for what I bought them for, which is mountaineering in WA. They allow the fully automatic crampons. I am 6'2, ~190, and I have a size 13 in most brands. I went with size 47s and included the extra tongue for a fit (I have relatively narrow/average feet and legs, so with a size like 47 there is too much space without the extra tongue). They are not notably comfortable, but they do stay dry even after a few pretty deep steps into a running glacier stream on Mount Baker. I am going to replace with cheap soles they include with some Dr Scholls and I think these boots will be pretty top notch after that. They always stay tied, they keep my feet warm enough (5 day backpacking in snow and I was fine), and they are obviously super durable. Happy with these. Please note - I don't think any mountaineering boot is necessarily comfortable. These rub my feet in the same spots any other boot does. I have about 50+ miles on these at this point. When it comes to summit day, I just know where to place moleskin so that I am covered and ready to go. The only real negative here is a $600 boot with a $1 sole. But that's a cheap and easy fix.

Amazing mountaineering boots

Took these up a spring climb of Mt St Helens, and feet were 100% dry after 10 hours on the mountain (including many post-holes down). They're comfortable right out of the box, kick-step like a dream, and their traction is unmatched. Highly recommend trying these on in store - La Sportiva has a reputation for being a bit narrow in the toebox. While these aren't as narrow as some of their shoes, they do fit a bit narrower than other brands. I went an EU 1/2 size up from my usual Mountaineering boot size and doubled up on socks, and that fit perfectly for me.

Awesome boot. Worth the cost.

I bought this boot because every rental I had was not comfortable for my foot and I wanted a guarantee on my first summit attempt up Shasta. I have a wide, flat foot with high arches so I was limited in my options as a female. This boot was perfect once I put my orthotics in. My feet were super comfortable, stayed dry, and I had no blisters. My feet and legs felt great when I woke up and ready for each day’s adventure. When going to highly inclined icy mountain faces, you need to have confidence in your gear. I never doubted these boots for a second.

Amazing Boots

They are well worth the money. Dry and comfortable all day long. These fit my wide foot better than the CUBE version of this boot--even though they are supposed to be the same I think they made the Cubes a little narrower in the process of saving weight (so you may want to consider that if you have either wide or narrow feet).

Bulletproof

These boots have been on 5 14ers with me, they're incredible. I have cold feet but they stay warm in these all day. I recommend going a size up considering mountaineering thickness socks and foot swelling on long missions. My only con (still gave 5 stars since many will consider this positive for mountaineering boots) is their lack of cushion. Took a stress fracture after a long day of rock hopping in these, although I plan to be wearing them as soon as I'm healed.
