This is an excellent jacket, no doubt. It is lightweight and seems durable and breathable, that would be great as an all season jacket. The color is also great. I like the two large pockets on the chest area where I can store my phone and wallet, and the small pocket on the right arm. I had to return it since the sleeves are too long. I stand 5'9" and weight 140 lbs, so I went for a size S. The body is fit is just right, but the sleeves extend all the way to the tip of my fingers. I prefer the sleeves of my jackets just a little over my wrists. Otherwise, I would definitely keep this jacket.
I really wanted to love this jacket but unfortunately it’s just a really strong like. The jacket construction is excellent quality and the fabric is very very good and waterproof as advertised even in steady rain. My only real issue with the jacket is the placement of the pockets. I completely understand that this is a trekking jacket meant to be worn with a hiking pack but I would like more versatility out of my products and be able to use this in an urban environment with no pack on. I just could not bring myself to get used to these pockets on an every day basis in an urban commuting environment . I suppose that is a just a problem with me and not the jacket.
Although I am still getting used to the zipper, this jacket is exactly what I have been looking for in a waterproof shell. The jacket is lightweight, breathable, and has a small amount of stretch for more movement. This lightweight stretch material means that the jacket doesn't have the typical crunchy sound of a normal Gore-Tex shell. Not to mention, the materials they use mean they aren't using fluorocarbons that can wash off into the environment! The pocket configuration can be tricky if you aren't used to chest pockets but when I am backpacking, I can use my waist strap and still access everything in my pocket.
I was tired of always getting completely soaked every time I went out in the rain. I had been in the market for a high quality shell and something that was not Gore-Tex (as it is terrible for the environment). I knew that Fjallraven made high quality outdoor gear that was environmentally friendly and sustainable. So I purchased this and have not been disappointed. I have been out in some miserable weather and have had stayed completely dry. My only gripe is the adjusters that cinch the hood down - I have a long neck and sometimes they do not stay in place if you are moving around a lot.
I hate waterproof jackets, they're never actually waterproof! However if anyone wants to upgrade to something that ACTUALLY works, this is the way to go! *Disclaimer, read up on Fjallraven waterproof technology before your purchase* Once you understand how their "ECO-SHELL" works, then you really understand how this fabric keeps you dry. It just makes sense. The best part is how many uses I get from this shell. I can take it to the forest, on my kayak, snowboarding, on vacation, during the winter (with a down insulation layer underneath), during the summer (side ventilation zips help a ton!) and it packs down pretty small once you fold it into its own hood. Overall I can't say enough good things about this shell!
With the first rain showers I realize the draw cords in the hood don't stay in place once pulled. Customer service: its normal. Well, besides I have other jackets and the drawcord stay in place. But let's forget it and assume it is made like this for some reason (which I find difficult to understand). Front pockets soaked at the bottom, water comes through the seam. Everything in the pocket was wet, including the phone. This is EXTREMELY disappointing for a jacket that promise water proofing at 30000 mm of rain. Otherwise a good jacket, worth it's prize, though?
I bought this jacket for my husband a couple of years ago and it still looks as nice as the day we got it. He has gotten so much use out of it, and as someone that runs a bit hotter he continuously uses it through the different seasons but with different layering underneath (we live in Minnesota). As a more technical jacket it offers a lot of great features which he often raves about after his trips to the Boundary Waters. With big chest pockets and solid ventilations to help him cool down this jacket is always with him on trips.
I have owned many outdoors rain jackets and the eco-shell is hands down my absolute favorite. The four way stretch and excellent ventilation makes this a great shell for backpacking, biking and active outdoors use. The ventilation zippers (or pit zips') are LONG. This gives you lots of room to make micro adjustments to the breathability of the shell and the two way zippers can be opened from the bottom to allow the use the hand warmer pockets of a warmer layer underneath. I have used this jacket hiking, backpacking, fishing and guiding groups through the back country and have never had issues with the shell 'wetting out'. The up front price is steep but the warrantee makes this a priceless item for any outdoor enthusiast who expects the most from their gear.
Bought the blue Keb Eco Shell jacket a few weeks ago. Getting used to proper layering techniques and now very pleased with this product. I have used it on hour long walks with my wife. It looks great, is comfortable and wind proof. I like the fact that it is ‘quiet’ when walking. I am planning on going backcountry skiing next week and the Keb shell will certainly be included an excellent addition to my gear. It is still too cold in Quebec to have (recently) experienced rain. I’ll write another review when that happens.
Have this jacket for a year now,i use it for wild camping when i stay severay days outdoora without any contact of civilization. I use it as part of my kit that will keep the wind out ,keep me warm without bulking and if i manage to get caught in rain it will keep me dry,it did all these things. However, jacket is not for prolonged rain since outer fabrix is soft and cant apply dwr properly like on other shell jackets,it gets extremly wey on outside that it gets you feeling cold even with some layers underneath. Front pockets are not waterproof since they dont have taped seams inside and water gets in easily. Overall i bought it at 50% of the retail price and im extremly happy, jacket is comfortable, stretcy, tough and fits great just has some flaws to it and its not perfect.
