This is a beautifully designed light coat/ jacket. It does almost everything right. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. Hood can be fit to the head. Longer length in back is amazing for SO many outdoor activities. Zipper is a little stiff, but works well once you get it going. Cuffs tighten right down. Good color. Cool styling. My ISSUE is that it is not completely waterproof. It may be that I took it for granted that a raincoat would be waterproof and that this is only seriously water repellant, but it kept me very dry in most areas, but my shoulders and upper back were a little damp. This was at the end of a 3.5 hour hike in moderate rain. So, it's mostly a great coat. Not entirely waterproof. Oh, I've also used
I purchased this as a layer for travel. I took it to AUS/NZ during their spring and found it perfect as a very light layer by itself and excellent over a down jacket for cold, wet southern New Zealand. It packs and unpacks easily, taking little room. I'm a usual size 6/8 medium and I bought it in a medium. Nice fit by itself and somehow still is comfortable over layers. Limited pockets are fine. I'm only giving it 3 stars because while it is really good, you can't stow the hood and the zipper is so stiff that the left side collar stands straight up no matter what I do and the edge of it constantly rubs my chin and looks awkward. A couple of well placed snaps would solve both problems.
I already have two other rain shells for backpacking and rock climbing, so the driving factor for getting this jacket was fashion (I have an upcoming trip to Scotland and I want to look like I'm vacationing in Europe, not roughing it in the backcountry). This jacket performs just as well as my other rain shells--it's waterproof (field tested in rainy Sacramento), lightweight, breathable, packs into its pocket, AND the fit is very flattering thanks to the adjustable cinch waist. And it dries super fast! It doubles as my to-work rain coat since it's long (great for when I don't plan on wearing rain pants). I believe it runs true to size. I'm 5'3" 120 lbs, athletic build. I'm between XS and S in most things and consistently a S in jackets. I tried on XS and S, and both fit fine even with layers underneath, but I thought the looser fitting S had better drape and was more comfortable and easy to move around in.
I was getting tired of having a wet butt when jogging in heavy rain, so I bought this beauty. Pros: Flattering cut Hood stays on well with the pulls to adjust fit. Even during hard rain and moderate einds Big zippered pockets for items Good length for covering lower half in rain Nice color Doesn't wear too hot Double ended zipper to adjust which part you keep zipped Con: I wish it had an internal opening from inside the pocket to the inside of my jacket to run headphone lines. Is it the end of the world? No. Would it have made my life a lot easier? Yes. Though I guess that's to keep the times in your pocket 100% dry since i do sweat. Still, though, I'm tempted to cut my own hole but don't want to ruin the jacket.
Love, love, love this raincoat! Style is great, length is terrific especially with the longer back to keep my bottom covered and dry. It is not intended to be a warm coat but i can fit it over other layers and still manage to look sleek while stylishly remaining dry. Or sans underlayers in warmer climates for breathable comfort in a storm. The packability is fabulous too. As we like to travel whether domestically or abroad and it saves on weight and space when doing so. Got this in black and on a generous sale price so am beyond pleased!
I bought this for a hiking trip in April. We experienced rain, wind and cool temps. I wore the jacket everyday for 13 days and it fit each circumstance. I like the longer length and the fit. It looked okay going out at night also. The rain good with the bill was also good during rain. Highly recommend.
The zipper on my first jacket was so stiff I couldn’t zip it without fight. I exchanged it for another. The zipper entirely broke off. The metal piece at the end that slips into the pull tore off so the pull won’t even stay on the jacket. It was a pretty great jacket behind that though I’d call it more water-resistant than water-proof in a true rainstorm.
Provides good rain protection, especially with longer length. Double zipper allows me to adjust for even more maneuverability. It's perfect for travel, not bulky or heavy.
Being retired means changes in lots of things. One of those things is clothing for a more active lifestyle. I needed a waterproof coat, stretchy, slim, no frills....this one, albeit expensive, is perfect. As a size of a fourth grader, I can’t wear pleated stuff without looking...funny. I wanted some waist definition and this design did it. Rain does not hit my thighs but my calf’s, which is great. In size medium it fits well with enough room to pair with a thigh long vest. Perfect.
This is a very flattering and very comfortable jacket. I wore it many times during a trip through new Zealand and Australia. It is very lightweight but yet windproof and waterproof so it flexes to a variety of different temperatures from the 40s with layers to the 80s with shorts in a downpour. It accommodates thick layers and yet you can barely tell you added them. Cinches in nicely at the waist. Big hood that covers well. Sleeves are long which I appreciate, though could be too long for some. I'm always worried about fit being a pear shape, but this fit perfectly. I got a medium and am 5'10 around 140lbs for reference. The only partial negative would be the stiff collar. It seems to have relaxed a bit after a first wash and before that I was able to fold it down by tucking the side in under the zipper after zipping up. I thought it would bother me more hiking around, but it actually didn't. I am very glad I decided to keep it! Can't say enough about this jacket
