The small pack that does it all

For years I have wanted to purchase a hydration pack to bring with me when I do activities outside, however, I kept putting it off because I felt like I couldn't justify the cost for something I wouldn't use frequently, or I felt like the ones I saw in the store weren't my style, or I was worried about the fit, or any other excuse. When the pandemic came and my gym closed, I started taking a lot more walks outside. After a couple weeks of going on 4-5 mile walks I started to get frustrated with needing to carry a water bottle (which never lasted), my phone, my glasses, and my keys. Finally I decided it was time to seriously look at a hydration pack. I spent hours researching - reading reviews on REI, watching video reviews, reading reviews on other websites. I narrowed my search down to a couple different options and ultimately chose the Kitsuma 7 based on the space in the pack to carry my smaller items, the amount of water it held, and the color. I've worn the pack on my nearly daily walks since the day I got it in early June. I walk anywhere from 2-5.5 miles a day; on days I go further I fill the water bladder completely, on days I go shorter I sometimes fill less. Even when it's full of water + my key + iPhone 10 + a protein bar + bottle of sunscreen + small hand sanitizer it's still very light weight and could fit a light layer neatly folded inside.

Does not come with quick disconnect

Overall, I think the backpack itself is great! I typically purchase unisex backpacks and find them to not fit perfectly. The fit of this backpack is amazing. It's great for shorter day hikes. It actually fit a lot more than I originally anticipated. In addition to the reservoir, I had multiple snacks, a 32 oz hydroflask, sunglasses and a few other small items. It felt surprisingly light, likely due to the good fit. The only issue I have with this relates to the reservoir. I was under the impression that the reservoir would be exactly the same as other osprey hydraulic lt reservoirs. As far as I'm aware it is incredibly similar, however this reservoir does not include the quick disconnect shown on all the other images I see of this reservoir online. It is a bit of pain to have to have to take the reservoir tube out of the pack after every use. I realize that you can purchase the quick disconnect separately, but the description on the website led me to believe that it would include this feature. Overall, I still really enjoy the pack.

I’m in love with this pack!

Perfect size, very versatile—I wanted a slim, light pack that could carry hydration vessel, a windbreaker and small stuff in summer, and no hydration pack (but water bottle sleeve) and layers, rain gear in winter. Love the midline wide opening. Can store a first aid kit in the hidden pocket and stuff a rain jacket in the reservoir pouch (which doesn’t zip, buckle closure okay for me). Any way I pack it, it’s light and slim on my back. The zippers, stitching, Velcro and padding are great quality, which, after having a pack 1/4 the price but making me miserable, makes this splurge worth it in every way.

Love it

I use this pack for my 10-20 mile hikes. I find it comfortable, ample storage for snacks, and I can adjust the straps for jogs down hill. All in all it’s a great pack. I do wish my poles fit inside but not a deal breaker.

Great Quality

This backpack is great quality and even better in person. It's compact, but it can fit more than you'd think. Without the water pouch filled, I fit a composition notebook, water bottle, light sweater, and sunglasses case in just the front zipper pocket. The only drawback is that the large pocket for the water pouch does not have a zip closure, so if you're planning to use the backpack occasionally without the water pouch, items in that pocket won't be fully secure.

perfect hydration pack

I just got this pack last week and I’m already obsessed with it! I have 2 other (much larger) Osprey hydration packs for longer trails when more gear/layers are needed but wanted something smaller for short trails and mellow weather that wouldn’t weigh me down. This pack is perfect! The 2.5L bladder is plenty and the storage pocket fits your keys, phone, SPF, and snacks. You could even fit a light weight long sleeve/outer shell in the pocket. I’ve used it on 3 different hikes from 3-7 miles each and I haven’t found anything I dislike about it yet. If you’re looking for something smaller and compact for the trail, this is it!

Should have bought years ago- love it

I do a lot of 5-8 mile hikes and occasionally a 15 miler. Due to that, I had a much larger day pack you can put a ton of gear in. This little guy, though- YES. I fill up the internal reservoir, throw in 2 cliff bars, an apple, an extra t-shirt, my phone, car keys and I'm good to go on a nice half day hike with the perfect sized bag. The inner hidden pocket is great for cash and credit cards. I originally hesitated because this pack is primarily for bikers, but I've had great success with it as a small hiking pack.

Love this backpack!

I LOVE this backpack. I am 5'3 and sometimes struggle finding the right backpack, especially for hiking. There is enough room to put my hat, sunglasses, a small bottle of sunscreen, chapstick, my credit card/ID, and 2 sandwiches. The water reservoir magnets are really nice too.

Perfect size pack

I’m in love with this pack! It’s my new best friend. Where has it been all my life? Why have I not purchased a hydration back before? I chose to buy this brand and model because I wanted a minimal pack that held a decent volume of water yet also had some storage space for snacks, keys, phone, etc. Well, this is perfect. I washed it out the day I bought it with warm soap and water. I checked for leaks and no issues. I filled it up for a long run (9.5 mi) I had planned the following morning. It wasn’t too heavy, I tightened it a few times to make it more snug, and there wasn’t a plastic taste to the water. I’m a huge fan of this bag and excited to remain hydrated going forward. Goodbye dehydration! I can imagine using it a lot on bike rides, runs and hikes with my family.

Awesome for day hikes!

I have back problems & needed a small backpack for day hikes. Even though this is smaller than my previous backpack, I can actually fit more into it because of how nicely designed it is! Very happy with this purchase.

comfy & effective

For me, perfect bladder size for a longer day hike. SO COMFORTABLE for hiking and biking. Fits my water, lunch, snacks, phone, keys etc perfectly with all the pockets. I really love how the mouth piece has a magnet so it's always easy to access, too. Highly recommend, especially the visible color.
