Features

  • AirEvacâ„¢ system relieves hot air that builds up on your eyewear to prevent fogging
  • Rotational motion can cause brain injuries; with MIPS, a low-friction layer slides 10 to 15mm in all directions, reducing rotational motion to the brain during impact
  • Eyewear storage is made easy by channels on the side of the helmet that hold your eyewear in place for those grueling climbs
  • Lightweight Aerocoreâ„¢ in-mold construction improves airflow and ventilation, increases impact resistance and reduces helmet volume and weight
  • Koroyd® material improves ventilation, increases impact resistance and reduces helmet volume and weight compared to traditional EPS foam
  • VaporFitâ„¢ adjustable fit system secures the helmet and makes it comfortable to wear
  • 18 optimized vents provide cooling airflow when you're leading the draft line
  • XT2® antibacterial performance lining helps prevent the growth of odor-causing microbes in the fabric
  • Ultralight single-layer webbing provides cool, comfortable coverage
  • Integrated skeletal structure enhances the strength of the helmet
  • Certification: CPSC, CE EN 1078

Crashed and it did its job!

I absolutely recommend this helmet after a bike crash with it on. It’s a great helmet for fit, weight and tech. More importantly is it performed when I crashed and went over my handlebar with it on. This was a pretty hard fall where I broke by tibia, rib and separated my collarbone. The ER did a CT scan of my head too and no damage, bleeding or concussion. Only thing I had was a little bruise on my face. Thank you Smith and MIPS!

3 1/2 months old and the matt finish is peeling.

Love the fit, the MIPS, the Honeycomb protection. Don't like the fact it is peeling. I will be asking for a refund. In another couple months it will look terrible, like an old helmet. Apparently they just put a latex type sticker over the helmet to make the matt and it doesn't hold up. Where it peels it's shinny. My helmet is put in the bag after it wearing.Too expensive for this.

I commute almost every day

I commute almost every day and ride over 14,000km a year - so… I wear a Boke helmet ALOT! This helmet fits like a GLOVE!! I currently had a POC and am a bit of a Rapha fan so when I saw they came out with a new helmet I wanted to give it a try. Really the fit of the mountain bike helmet let me to the road helmet. WOW, all I can say is wow - would never buy another! LOVE it. Tailwinds peeps!

This SMITH helmet model does

This SMITH helmet model does not work for me. My hair gets wrapped around the yellow tabs inside the helmet and I can't get the helmet off. See the photo with the hair pulled out at the yellow tab. In addition, the front inside that sits on the forehead has a gap (is not smooth across the head) so each side leaves a pressure mark on my forehead. Sometimes these marks give me a slight headache. I like the excellent ventilation and smaller size of this model. However due to my hair loss and the irregular fit on the forehead, I will no longer wear this helmet.

Helmet great, lifespan?

I really love the fit and weight of the helmet. Added some additional reflective stickers from Gear Aid. I was disappointed to receive a helmet that was manufactured 16 months earlier, when the owner’s manual says it should be replaced after 3 years of use. I know that sitting in a warehouse doesn’t necessarily qualify as use, but I have no way of knowing the impact to the lifespan of the helmet. If I had picked this up through the outlet at a discount, that’d be reasonable. I did use my 20% coupon against a full priced helmet, which I assumed would be new stock.

Crash-tested and walked away with no head injury.

Bought this helmet for my husband in August. One month later he was hit by a car when riding his road bike. The impact broke his rib and severely bruised his hip. The helmet was dented and cracked, but he had no head injury. We got another Trace helmet for when he can ride again. I deducted one star because of the lack of color options. The high-viz color was out of stock as were most of the other colors.

Awesome Helmet - so happy

This helmet is perfect for changing conditions from road to gravel to dirt path in Colorado. Lightweight, excellent air circulation, forget I am wearing it comfortable!!. Love that idea that it pairs complete Koroyd® with MIPS® Chin strap update and so much more comfort and performance without noticing pulling or needing adjustments. My previous helmet was a torture chamber. So thrilled to have the Smith Trace on my head!!!!!! Would recommend this helmet to those looking for something versatile with performance and comfort.

SMITH Trace/Poppy-Terra-Storm

Trace seems to me is upgraded Overtake which I've had for some years. Please don't take my word but similarities are there. Very satisfied with Overtake except ventilation. Smith got it fixed with Trace even with glasses vents to eliminate fogging. That works well but I've not had a chance to test it on humid summer day. Downfall is that the helmet's front sits lower over glasses to make ventilation work but I've experienced bumping between helmet and glasses during rougher gravel ride. MTB ride was the same story but I can live with that. It is not a MTB helmet. Fits great just like Overtake. Love new improved straps. Highly recommend this lid.

Large is too small

This seems like a nice helmet but I am sending it back. The large is the largest size and is too small. It didnt cover my whole head in back and no way I could get a warm liner underneath in winter. Would like to see them make an extra large in Smith and other brands. Seems like a good product otherwise.

Saved my life!

I purchased this helmet not long ago and thanks to it, I am alive today. I was hit by a vehicle while riding my bicycle. I was on a bike lane. I flew over my handlebars and landed on my head. The helmet took the majority of the impact. I broke my upper spine and a rib. But I am convinced that I am alive because of how great this product is. I cant say enough about this helmet. Unfortunately, my helmet is completely cracked and cannot use it again. But I can say that if I can get back to riding again, I will not use any other helmet brand. The MIPS technology works. Do yourself a favor and purchase this helmet. It's a great investment.
