Power on the Go
I mainly use this while long-distance bicycle touring. With it, I'm able to provide power -- separately, not all together -- to my rechargeable bike lights, AA-powered GPS, rechargeable bike computer, cell phone, and AA-powered emergency locator beacon. Even if the weather puts me in a pinch by being completely overcast for days I still have the option of buying regular AA batteries from a roadside store, popping them into the Goal Zero device, and using those to charge my electronics. Once the Sun comes back, I return to using rechargeable batteries. This device is one of the best pieces of outdoor gear I own.
Tried the battery pack - works great
I recently bought this for a mountaineer info trip but have only had a chance to use it on days hikes. The battery pack is compatible with my iPhone x when using the iPhone cord or adapter charges fast, durable. The system itself comes with small caribeners and a few cords, removable pouch (from the solar panel) for everything and a AAA battery adapter so you can use either in the battery portion. I've read mixed reviews on the product and do believe that solar has a long was to go - will update in a week or so and let everyone know how the solar portion did.
iPhones
So I read the reviews about the iphone compatibility after I bought this. I decided to try it out right away do to the power issues in Ca. It was not charging my iPhone but I did flip the charger chord over and it started charging my phone faster than if I plugged into my wall. I only gave it a four star because I have to test it on the trail.
not compatible
I bought this to use with my iPhone 7 but apparently, they aren't compatible and the battery pack won't charge my phone. So, if you have an android phone, it may work. Going to return.
Scale of 1 to 10, Goal Zero is a Zero
Terrible product. I'v barely used the solar panel and it no longer works. It also fell apart after just seeing in my pack. The battery charger also stopped working. Buyer beware.
SOLAR!
Gave a four because I haven't gotten to use it yet, BUT I have a couple of the Goal Zero lights that I use quite a bit, even at home.
