Sizing
I ordered a pair of these online and tried them on at the store. Normally I take a 10 1/2. The size 44 was too large, definitely closer to a size 11. They are wide too. My foot is narrow (B or C width), and these were too wide for me. Very nice, well made shoe. Too bad that they did not fit! Hope this helps.
A Serious Hiking Shoe!
65 year old feet no longer have quite the natural fat pads for cushioning. Thanks to shoes like these, the probability of bruising is taken back to zero. A very serious midsole and presumably some sort of synthetic board in last. I have lighter hiking shoes that are pretty decent. When feet are stressed from a lot of walking, running around like an idiot on the pickleball court or on stony New Mexico trails, these are what I'm grabbing. Thanks Ecco and REI!
Rugged and comfortable
I walk a lot every day and love travel, hiking and photography, I needed something that looked readonably good for every day use on extended trips and could also be used on hikes in foul weather. These fit the bill perfectly. They’re not high, for “real” hiking in wet and muddy environments, but they serve well when I want to take only one pair of shoes (I wear a size 12, and can’t fit more shoes in when I pack “tight”). I’ve even used these on occasion for golf and they served well.
