Bought 1st pair 5/18. Loved them so much got 2nd pair 3/20 when they went on sale. 1st pair finally wore out(3 months shy of 4 yrs), opened 2nd pair, and was stoked to see same shoe still available so I ordered 3rd pair today. I live in Atlanta. Lots of rain/humidity. Wanted shoe that was light, breathable, and quick to dry. This shoe fit the bill and was very comfortable to my foot. 1st thing to wear down was sole, then liner at heels, then some stitching at toe, finally towards the very end the casing of a shoelace separated. Hiking, traveling, home and yard maintenance, and metal working (lots of grinder sparks/dusts and welding) were main uses. Hope 2nd pair lasts as long, but even if it doesn't, it's still comfortable, light, breathable, and quick drying.
Purchased in Sept 2021. I am a surveyor in AZ. I hike most of the day during work and work some major desert projects, so the shoe I use must be top notch. I would say I hiked and walked on the job in these almost 320 miles. The soles look like they have 500 to 600 miles on them. I am 6'-2" and weigh 180lbs. I feel these have worn out way-premature. I have had much better luck with Brooks Cascadias, Keen, and Vasque. Looked forward to trying these out. I don't know if I'll try them again.... I don't think people take 8 pairs of shoes with them when they hike the entire Appalachian trail or Pacific Crest Trail.
My fourth pair of Oboz shoes. The first three were "Traverse", but last year, the price shoes with THAT sole went up, so I bought the more affordable Sawtooth ll low hiking shoes. These were much better while driving a car, the cut off heel is just more comfortable while driving. GREAT shoe for walking around, and hiking uphill. But several times I have slipped and fallen down while wearing these shoes while coming downhill. (My back still hurts after falling while wearing a backpack!) The problem, NO Heel traction because of the cut-off, angle cut Heal section. Especially if you "splay" out your toes a bit, like I do.) So I examined it. There is NO Traction bars, lugs ...nothing to hold you after that cut. (I'll supply a picture) Steep glassy side hill? Watch out! I came down Mount Diablo on a steep dirt trail, it was so bad I had to go down using only the ball of my foot. Tiring. I'll see if I can afford the higher priced sloes I used to enjoy, but now they are $20 bucks more, and $160 bucks for a shoe I wipe out in 6 Months is just too steep of a price. I loved the Traverses, but not the Sawtooth.
This is my second pair;first one still in use after over a year and pretty much daily wear.I live in Florida but my sons football camp happens to be in NC.Walked in the store last year with the intent of buying Salomon or another of the well known brands.A very nice and knowledgeable sales lady (sorry forgot her name) introduced me to these. Her husband relied on the bigger brands but had switched also. She promised that these do not have a break in time.Well after joining REI and getting the rebate I put them on and hiked around Lake Norman for two hours with my son.Again straight out of the store onto the trail. This is my second pair so I think that explains the rest .
These are vented (not waterproof) light - medium hikers. They might be the most comfortable I have ever worn. The footbed in these are amazing. Keens used to be close to these but they are terrible now. Seem well made and they are very supportive and stable like none other I have ever tried. I’ve tried Keens, Merrells, and others but have never been as comfortable as these. Perfect shank and uber stable. Seem very well made and hope they last longer than my last keens which was 3 months. Will update in a few months.
Super comfortable, ample ankle support! Snug fit ✨
Bought these for my dad who hasn't had a comfortable shoe in ages. He was wary of spending so much on a shoe while not knowing if his feet would just hurt again in two months, but with the return guarantee allowed me to purchase them for him. He wanted support for his flattening feet, and the employee helping us recommended these Oboz. Thus far they're holding up great! Initially he was worried his feet were swelling a bit, but this seems to have gone away once they were broken in. Now his only complaint seems to be that his feet get very hot after walks and such. But apart from that all is well. I'm just hoping they remain supportive!
This is my second pair of Oboz hiking footwear. From when I tried them on, and after about 30 hours of wear, 20 hiking- I am so very impressed. I don't even look at other hiking shoes or boots anymore. They are cool to my feet, and I wear a combo sock approach, very thin next to skin and a bit thicker outside. The sturdy yet supple feel I get is exactly what I need. My other problem is my wide feet. I feel no pinch, no arch pressure where I have to adjust. I would definitely recommend this brand. My other pair is a SawTooth Mid Hiking boot. Outstanding for backpacking and 14er's. Around camp and mid strenuous hikes these are my choice. I should add, after much use, on occasional snow and ice, the tread does not wear out nor slip easily when due care is practiced as with any boot/shoe.
I've used these for several day hikes in the past year. These are overall solid shoes, with one major exception: the grip is terrible on even damp rocks. When I say terrible, I mean I am really afraid I might slip. I'm an avid hiker and have used many shoes over the years, so have some basis of comparison. Since most hikes (at least in New England) involve at least some trickle of water over rocks along the path, I don't really recommend these.
Bought the shoes in August and have put about 20 mile on them and they are coming unglued on the toe. Arch is very low. You will need inserts.
