Growing and drinking oil
I want to rate these a 5 because they’re the perfect size, don’t leak, and are really friendly to use to get your liquids out. However there is a big issue that another reviewer wrote about. I’m glad I saw her review before I took these on my trip so when it happened to me I didn’t think I was crazy! One of the bottles I used for eye makeup remover. Which has oil in it. When I got to my destination and tried to use my makeup remove me it didn’t work. It literally didn’t remove my eye makeup. It was like water. The bottle was also only half full but nothing had leaked out. then realized it had grown in size by two times. As the other reviewer wrote but gave them 5 stars a warning needs to be added to not use these for products that have oil. I have no idea why or how it absorbs oil and then expands but it really does happen! If they fix that or give guidance on what to use them for or not, I’d give these 5 stars.
Best Tubes ever!
I’ve tried many travel soft tubes before, and these are definitely SO MUCH MORE SUPERIOR than anything else out there. There are lots of little features about this simple tube that makes such a HUGE impact. I’m actually really excited to talk about these tubes and share my experience. The flat tube base for easy filling is a GAME CHANGER. Usually when I fill my travel tubes it’s either 1) a two person job or 2) me awkwardly trying not to spill liquids with one hand pouring and the other hand holding the tube in place. The wide opening mouth for easy filling/cleaning also makes this tube such a great design. This is especially true when you’re trying to pour lotions or something with a thicker consistency into the tube. Trying to fill small opening tubes with lotion is like trying to thread a needle -- it’s a pain in the a**. The valve on the tubes also dispenses really nice and efficiently without wasting product. Some other tubes out there that I’ve tried has been awful because product would continue to leak after you stop squeezing, or it’s difficult to control how much product comes out when you squeeze the tubes. Lastly, THE LOOP LOCK!! Such a simple and clever design that really makes you never want to pick up another travel tube again. I love that it helps prevent leaking so you can rest easy. Added bonus, I love that you can attach it to a carabiner.
Leakproof but squeezes out SO MUCH
I used these to store skincare products (serums, lotions, creams, and oils) on domestic and international flights. They truly don’t leak which is awesome. However they’re unusable for me because they squirt out so much product even with a tiny squeeze and even after equalizing the pressure after a flight. The final straw was when a tiny squeeze sent out half of the bottle’s content. So if you have precious K beauty products, use Nalgene’s little storage bottles instead.
Great For Travel Shower Soaps
We have a couple sets of these three tubes and they are just perfect. We use these mainly to put Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Soap for our plane and road trips when staying in hotels. They are the perfect size for planes because they fit under all the TSA and international security rules and regulations. We also use these for condiments, oils, and dish soaps on camping trips but they also have larger ones if looking for more than just a few days. Lastly, best of all, they are super easy to clean and get everything out from inside. The only thing we had an issue with was staining from ketchup in one bottle. However, because it is silicone, putting it outside or in the dishwasher will generally clear these stains up as it did in our case.
A Growing problem ;)
Although I have had an unusual issue with these containers, I would still give this product a 5 start, because of the leak proof design and overall ease of use. I have been using this product for over a year with no issues. During my last trip, I purchased a second set and used one of the containers for my hair oil. To my surprise, the oil reacted with the container and by the time I reached my destination (20 hours later), the container containing the hair oil was 50% bigger in size than the other containers. It was quite a funny sight actually. The oil consistency also had changed to a gooey sticky mess and had leaked out of the container. Luckily I always put these in a ziplock bag, so no major issue arose from the leak. Considering this product claims on the packaging it is even good for “magic potions” I didn’t think any of my hair products could cause any issues. So I explained the issue to REI, and as always they were very helpful and understanding. Exchanges the new set with anther one. Now I know not to use these containers for any products containing oils. They probably should put that warning on the packaging though. These containers have worked very well for shampoos, conditioners and various types of body lotions.
Upgraded bottles over previous generation
GoToob has come out with an upgraded model to their previous version which addresses some of the more annoying concerns I and people like me had with their older product.these are actually air tight now when closed vs previously where air could move into the bottle under lower pressure in the Toob vs outside but then it would be trapped. It made air travel trips from places like Colorado to L.A. interesting as sometimes after landing, I'd have a balloon, sometimes I'd have a mess in my bag. But no more! These suckers are airtight, have a little locking mechanism which ensures the cap stays tightly closed and can be converted to a hook and used to hang up your bottles when they're open. The only thing they're missing is the little ring that allowed you to set what was in the Toob. Not too much of an issue if all you're taking is shampoo and conditioner, a little more difficult if you have shampoo lotion bodywash and conditioner.
Diversity diversity of this product
I greatly enjoy this product and the diversity of this product. The way design I’ve never had a leaking problem. They make a fantastic washer for your bottom squeezed with water. They hold soaps and shampoos and other liquids very well.
So Much Better than plastic bottles
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When traveling, I use small plastic bottles easily found at a drug store to transport my shampoo, conditioner and facial wash. I store them in the ziplocks as required by TAA on flights and by the end of my trip the inside of the bag will feel moist/ filmy. When I got these, I instantly knew they were a different quality. Instead of plastic, they are silicone and easy to squeeze. So, you could certainly get most of the product back out of it. I did a water test to see if there would be any leakage. None. I will be using them on an upcoming trip and have hope that the bags will be just as dry as when I started.
Durable and perfect size assortments
I keep buying these as I continue to find great uses for them. They are easy to clean and fill. No leaking ever. Unbreakable and high quality for lasting use. Since I often buy large containers of things, I am finding that I use them at home for smaller, more convenient use, besides the obvious in travel. The only disappointment is that when I put creamy product in it, it dries out if I do not use it often. I now just use smaller sized containers for those products.
Europe- tested
Took them to Europe for a 2 week trip and they didn’t leak at all. They were in a backpack and we did 4 cities in two weeks and we took a plane and a few trains. No leaks! I’m planning on buying more.
