I just finished the Tour Du Mont Blanc
I bought 2 pairs of Balega hiking socks online, just relying on reviews for info. I wore them everyday under my Merrell boots and trekked 75 mountainous miles around the Mont Blanc Massif in France, Italy and Switzerland. All around me companions were succumbing to blisters and taping their feet. I didn't get one. My socks performed beautifully and, once dry, didn't smell of much at all. I am a huge convert.
My favorite socks for running, walking, and life
I first bought these socks about 2 years ago when I was training for my first half marathon. They caught my eye because of the pattern and bright colors, but I was also interested in a higher sock (vs. the no shows I had been wearing). These very quickly turned into my absolute favorite socks, and I bought three more pairs because I loved them not only for running, but for every day life as well. Since then, I've ran 2 half marathons, 1 marathon, and did (almost) all of my training in these socks. As far as wear and tear, they're all still in great shape. I'm shocked by the minimal wear considering the miles I've put in with them.
These socks truly live up to their name!
I just spent 11 consecutive days in Walt Disney World with these socks on my feet every day. We logged on average over 20,000 steps per day, and I experienced absolutely zero blisters, hot spots, rubs, or other issues with my feet during that entire time. To be fair, I also used Body Glide brand Foot Glide each day, and rotated among several pairs of really good quality shoes, each with good quality after market shoe inserts. Either way, I still feel like the Balega Blister Resist socks were a key element of that combination, and I'll swear by the effectiveness of these socks. Well worth every penny I spent on them!
Don't recommend
I've had these socks since March/April 2024 and the stitching round the big toe is coming undone. For the price I'd think these socks would hold up longer
No blisters
I am VERY blister prone, and routinely walk about 4-6 miles a few times a week. These are truly the only socks I can wear without getting blisters. Worth every penny, especially since I don't have to keep purchasing moleskin for the blisters.
The best hiking sock ever!!!
I just finished hiking about 80 miles in the Dolomites and not one sore spot or even sign of a blister with these Balega socks. A year ago I was a big Thorlo sock fan and I still am for normal daily use, however I had blisters bad hiking in Switzerland. Smartwool also isn't as gentle on the feet as these Balegas. I am totally sold and felt compelled to get on and tell the world so people could enjoy their long hiking trips blister free. I will be buying more ASAP. So glad I stopped at REI before my trip and saw the no blister guarantee and tried them. Totally worked and I was amazed and grateful the whole trip.
Only Sock I'll Wear for Long Runs
I've been running with this sock exclusively for the last 4 years, anything from 5 miles to 105. My weird shaped feet were once prone to blisters in just about every shoe/sock combo until I started using these Blister Resist socks. They are comfortable, durable, and they do what they say. I've run many, many ultras in these socks and as long as I'm not running in ones that are too worn out, I do not get blisters and my feet come out looking looking WAY better than the stompers my running buddies pull out of their shoes. I have several pairs that I bought 4 years ago and they are somehow still hanging on.
Good for kayaking, too!
I got a pair of these socks to wear with well-ventilated shoes (Merrell All Out Blaze Aero Sport) while kayaking. While the river water was ice-cold—and yes, I stepped in it several times—my feet were comfortable soon after getting them back in the kayak. It was a hot day, but my feet felt good the whole time I was wearing these socks, both before and after kayaking. While I really like these socks—the fit is perfect, and they did exactly what I wanted them to do (keep my feet comfortable in extreme conditions)—I find them quite ugly. I wish that sock companies would quit trying to outdo each other in the number of colors, shapes, and patterns they can put on a sock, and make good-looking performance socks—you know, ones that don't get rejected by circus clowns for being too outlandish.
Running/Hiking/Fly Fishing - THE best Socks!
I love these socks so much that not only do I trail run in them, they have become my 'go to' for hiking up to alpine lakes to fly fish. I can wade out into cold alpine lakes and even when I get them wet, my feet are warm and blister free. Hours of running or hiking in cold and wet conditions with warm feet and not even a hot spot - blisters are now but a painful memory! Highly recommend!!
We are so glad that our socks have worked so well for you on all of your adventures! Thank you for your comment!
Can't confirm if they were "Blister Resist" or not
Bought these as part of an "Anti-Blister Task Force Trifecta". Tried socks, moleskin, and body-glide", then combinations of just one, two and three. Decided any socks would do right around the time these socks started to both shrink and generally fail. One hike in particular I noticed that the right sock ankle-band had decided to fail and become a grit, dirt, and brush "cup", later "funnel", almost immediately followed by left. Tossed in the trash after a run through the laundry failed to recuperate. Would not recommend. These are nothing more than socks. No magic. No secret powers.
