Pairs great with rooftop tents!

We picked this up, along with a Thule Tepui Kukenam 3 Ruggedized Tent, while on a road trip to and through Alaska. Can't say enough good things about the Fairbanks location and the team! There is one issue that may creep up on owners of short-bed pickup trucks, particularly the 2016-2022 Toyota Tacoma (which we have), and this is that the design of the bed inner walls won't allow the rack to drop down far enough to get the tent very low. I've attached a photo to show the lowest position on our truck. THIS IS NOT THULE'S FAULT and shouldn't dissuade anyone from using this rack. It's just that Toyota has the wheelwell pushed all the way to the front of the bed on this model, and the upright simply can't come down further. I'm considering removing the rack and shortening the uprights by a corresponding amount, since Thule does offer them as new parts, and I only need to shorten the forward items in order to get another 6" or so of drop. So if you hope to gain 100% of the adjustability from this rack, check the interior of your truck bed first. Great product, great REI support and a very fair price!

Needs Better Engineering and Less Plastic

Most of the stability for this truck rack comes from plastic clips that insert into the bed rail brackets from the bottom. What do you think happens to these brackets when you then insert the vertical uprights into the brackets? That's right - they knock out the plastic clips. Did I mention that the plastic clips have no mechanical fastener of any kind keeping them in place? And if you ever plan on taking out the ladder racks while keeping the bed rail brackets in place, it is almost impossible to get them reinstalled. I just spent and hour doing just that. Taking the ladder racks from my garage and putting them back on the truck. Did I mention the issue with the plastic clips? Yea, that will be a problem EVERYTIME you take the ladder rack off your truck. Thule needs to put more thought into the engineering and usability of the Xsporter and worry less about having 35 height adjustment levels.

stupid pricey not worth it

liked the sleek black color and dial type fastners. everything else was a fail. Alan bolts suck and strip quickly. so difficult to drop each rail into mounts if not perfectly lined up, even then the worthless plastic insert moldings keep popping off. spent way to much time installing this terribly designed rack instead of enjoying adventures.

Thule rack that's not compatible with Thule acc.

Great rack, but doesn't fit Thule accessories. Specifically their kayak racks will only fit if you gut yet another piece, an adapter, to make some of them fit (other ones won't fit ever). Otherwise fit the truck great.

One minor issue.

Nice solid rack. Much more versatile than the headache rack on my last truck. Assembly was fairly quick and easy. My issue is with the end caps on the crossbars. They are solid and do not have a cutout for the accessory slot in the top so whenever you want to change accessories you need to take the end caps off.

Great rack system!

I bought this a few weeks ago and have hauled my canoe as well as some wood home for projects. I have two trippers and I couldn’t haul them with conventional racks because the bow and stern are curved and would hit the roof of my truck. The adjustable height Thule Xsporter pro allows my to raise the front or drop the rear of the racks to allow hauling my favored Trippers.

Add one on my old Tacoma it went with the old Tacoma bought a new set very pleased with it. I think it’s a wonderful thing. I use it for my kayaks and if I’m hauling anything longer than my bed.
