Good shock absorbing pole option

This is solid set of poles. The cork grips are nicely shaped and feel good in hand (they never get that sweaty feeling even on hot days and long hikes). The height-adjusting system hasn't given me any issues so far. As Byers mentioned, the shock-absorbing system can be turned off which is kind of nice if you don't need it, but it does sometimes turn on/off in the middle of hiking if any kind of torque is applied to the poles. Not a big deal for me, but slightly annoying.

Low gear, brakes, and outriggers rolled into one.

I've used these poles now, on weeknight conditioning hikes, longer weekend hikes, and hiking a pair of parks, Fremont Peak and The Pinnacles. They work well in both soft soil and rocky trails. For me, they are primarily used to help me ascend, and descend the steeper slopes. The antishock feature seems to cushion my wrists and elbows from my efforts.

Trekking poles

I purchase these to go on my very first hike which they worked great ! Only part I didn’t like about them was that the antishock system would stiffen up and not work properly so you would have to stop and adjust the poles to get them working again .

komperdell trekking pole

I use these poles on several hikes and the anti-shock kept getting stuck and I kept having to stop and readjust the poles. On my last 14 mile hike one of the poles broke and I could not adjust it. I returned the poles to REI.

These poles rock!

I have severe arthritis and these poles helped me take on the trails in three national parks. I was amazed at how much they reduced the strain on my hips.

Not impressed

Upon delivery we found that the telescopic mechanism in both of the poles were not working correctly. The Komperdell poles were much heavier than my Keilty poles and did not seem as durable. Returned to store, since they were broken I never did use them on a trail.
