I think these socks are labeled wrong for size! I am normally a size Medium based on the size chart and previous purchase of darn tough socks. Trying these on are def too big. Packaging seems wrong too as these are labeled Hiker Quarter socks on the website but the packaging says Work Boot socks. I ordered 2 pairs and they are both on wrong packaging. Front of packaging says women’s M in my size range but back side chart says I should be a size small based on the same size range. Pretty confusing! See pics - gray socks are from a year ago but still, these wouldn’t shrink that much. They def poor out past my toes if I put the heel in the proper place on my foot. I love Darn Tough socks but I’ll have to exchange these for the proper size.
I alternated these with injinji and loved both. However, injinji got holes after about 500 miles and these never did. They did get worn and I was able to swap them out for NEW socks along the PCT at one of Darn Tough's sock exchanges. They were more than willing to swap. I hardly needed any proof for new ones, probably because I was on the PCT. When I got hotspots, I bought WuRu and used it with the socks rather than tape or moleskin and LOVED IT! Tape leaves sticky residue in socks and moleskin doesn't always stay in place once you start sweating. Moleskin helped if I already had a blister, but Wuru worked well with the socks to help prevent them.
I purchased these and the smart wool high performance socks for a hiking trip spanning from the rocky mountains, canyon lands, mount Rainier, Glacier National Park and Yellowstone. The darn tough brand ended up being my go to pair because of how sturdy, breathable and comfortable it felt on my foot.
This is my absolute favorite sock, ever. I've had them for 6 months and wear them at least x3 a week. I've worn them winter hiking in boots, spring hiking in trail running shoes, hot weather walking in blundies, around the house, with chacos, slippers, you name it. Got them absolute soaked one day because I walked into an ankle deep (cold) puddle and they weren't at all uncomfortable and they dried super fast (also recommend Altra Lone Peak 6 for fast drying time). I just love everything about these socks and am going to only buy these from now on once all my old socks are beyond repair.
Love these socks. They look great and stay put! There’s no shifting around in the shoe 9r shoeless for that matter. Will definetly Buy again!
Since I've started wearing these socks, I cant go back to regular cotton ones anymore. I hike a lot and I'm also on my feet in steel toes for 8+ hours a day. I have bone spurs and my feet constantly ache, but these socks help alleviate the pain. I love the cut on them!!! I wish more companies made more socks like these with better color arrangements and even thicker padding and protection. My feet don't stink after I take them off at the end of the day but I will say that I still get blisters. I've read reviews on here saying how people can hike half dome in these and not get one blister!!! Lucky for them, but I still get blisters in wool socks regardless of the brand. I'm use to the blisters now and that doesn't bother me. I'm just glad they help take away the pain in my heels. ALSO, these protect my toe nails so much!! When I use to wear normal cotton socks, my toenails would rip off. Gross I know, but I learned this painful lesson when I first started hiking. Now my feet are safe haha.
I walk 50+ miles a week as a mail carrier and my feet have recently started to feel it. I was hesitant to drop the cash on "just socks", but Sweet Jesus am I glad I did. I initially ordered two and just got done buying 4 more pair so my feet won't ever have to go without these amazing slices of heaven for my money makers. Just do it.
These were purchased as a stocking stuffer for my daughter with women's size 11 feet. The large fit so perfectly she raves about them every time I see her, she said "These are the best socks I've ever had". What more is there, she also is picky about texture, and she reports they are soft, cushy and just the best. Smart Wool makes her itch and these, well...fabulous. I am buying some for me now!
This introduced mom to high quality high % merino wool socks. For those who think that these are like the 10-15% wool socks, u are wrong. These are much better. They have the perfect amount of medium weight cushioning on bottom, & lightweight on top of foot (to vent). Breathable in the heat, insulating in the cold, launder great, and hardly smelly after wearing. My only gripe would be I wish there was a little more merino wool... maybe around 70-75%. Best deal when discounted & with that lifetime warranty... worth the price.
Darn Tough socks are my absolute favorite, and I particularly like these quarter height ones -- the top band around the sock is especially smooth. These are good for cold to mildly warm weather, and while I usually wear through wool socks quickly, these have survived many hikes and look good as new. I'm a size 10, and the women's large fits my feet better than any sock I've ever owned.
