Nice rain jacket
I bought this jacket to replace an my older OR that was showing wear. I put it to the test on the Alta Via 2 in Italy's Dolomites on an 11-day, ~110 mile hike. I experienced a wide range of conditions, including heavy rains, with high winds, and sub-zero temps. The jacket kept me dry in the rain and vented well. During the cold days, when layered up, the jacket blocked the wind and I didn't have any overheating issues. One area where a lot of jackets fail is the hood, but the Stormline hood was relatively easy to snug down/loosen with gloves on and when snugged down it stayed in place. My only "issue" is that it would be nice to have a chest pocket, inside or out.

Zipper Leaks
Bought this jacket based on reviews I had read, which seemed all very positive. I wore it this weekend for several hours hiking in a steady rain. Not a downpour, but steady and relentless. After a while the zipper did not hold out the rain, my entire front was soaked straight down the front, 4 inches to either side of the zipper. Also, not to nitpick, but the pockets are too low and are useless if you have the waist strap buckled on your pack. Gave it three stars because it was comfortable, seemed to breath ok for a rain shell, stretches well, and does a good job with wind. Keeping out rain should be a basic requirement for a rain shell though...

Keeps You Dry on the Trail

Best hydrophobic rain jacket I’ve used on the trail. Zero soak through. It does have that plastic feel slightly but not bad. It is the most stretchy rain jacket that I’ve owned and moves well on the trail. I’m 6’1, 190 lbs and the large fits perfect. Sleeves aren’t too long like other rain jackets. It is a slimmer cut and looks great for everyday use as well as on the trail. I would rate it very comfortable on the trail and packable. It’s not as comfortable against the skin with a t shirt as the Northface Futurelight Dryzzle but very close. Northface Futurelight isn’t as waterproof as the Black Diamond Stormline thus I’d recommend the Stormline over the Futurelight. Pit zips are a must for me in a rain jacket to vent and the Stormline has them. Awesome jacket for hiking, climbing, and everyday city use!

Great quality, lightweight, sizing is TIGHT

5'11", 180lbs. I usually buy size M for most jackets and button down shirts. ordered this jacket in size M. when it came in, it *fit* but was so tight i couldn't layer anything underneath it, which defeats the purpose of having a "shell". Going to have to return for a size up, however it doesn't look like any size L are in stock anymore... Other than that, it was super lightweight and felt good quality. Didn't water test it as I intend to return it. So if you are on the border of buying M and L, buy size L, because this jacket is cut for underweight thru hikers, not carhartt cut like i'm used to.

Not H2O Proof,

I was super stoked for this purchase. Jacket is not flashy and fits my body really well. However, mine is not water proof. After walking my dogs for 15 minutes in a light rain i returned home with two wet spots on my chest. The entire inside also had a bit of dampness making it unconfortable to put back on. One other issue, when i vent the pits the zipper drags against my backpack straps, a tid bit annoying. I could deal with the pit zip issue, but not gonna pay 150 for a rain jacket thats not water proof. gonna miss this guy, or girl, idk keeping it PC.

Great Lightweight Rain Jacket

I’ve used this product many times since it rains almost everyday in Hawaii. The jacket is lightweight but will keep you dry in light to heavy rain. Ventilation could be improved by introducing side slots or flaps. The jacket has Velcro cuffs and the hood can fit a helmet. The brim is annoying but I just tend to not fully zip it all the way. Overall it is a great jacket compared to other high end brands, it does its job at a reasonable price. It is comfortable, true to size lightweight jacket that could be a great addition to any persons wet/cold weather gear.

Awesome

Love this hard shell. Normally used it on a few hikes with light drizzle but got to test it yesterday when it was pouring on us for hours. Kept me completely dry. The side zippers makes sure the moisture wicked from inner layers does not stay inside. The jacket is super warm too, can be used as a windbreaker. Kept me comfortable in 20's and 30's.

best value for money

Being used to Arc'teryx gore tex hardshells for over 10 years, it felt like a gamble to buy this jacket but at the pricepoint of less than half of a comparable Arc'teryx jacket it was worth a shot. The jacket does not dissapoint, has kept me dry in some good rain storms and breathes better than gore tex. Somewhat tight in the armpits but doesn't affect movement.

Slim outline fits well and moves well

I was in a thunderstorm on top of Mount Langley when rain turned to hail and then more rain. This shell kept me dry the whole time while I was scrambling down. It held up well against some abrasion against some of the those big boulders too. I am 5'10" 135lb and the small fits great. the sleeves aren't too long, and the torso is a great length. The pit vents help out big time, I like those.

Amazing Jacket for an amazing price!

I am simply blown away by this shell. As someone who has exclusively owed Arctyrex shells and other jackets, this is definitely a competitor. The price for the quality is impressive, the Stormline shell should be sold for a higher price than what is listed. It’s incredibly light weight, stretchy, leaves room to layer, and stylish. The only thing this jacket doesn’t do is your taxes. As someone who spends countless hours outside subjected to Mother Nature’s fury, this shell will hold up, yet you won’t be feeling like you’re trapped in a ziplock bag at the same time. If you’re considering this jacket, it’s an easy answer. YES!!
