minion was better, worth getting better compounds
Not a huge fan of this tire. It feels awkward in corners. Had the biggest puncture of my life and broke a rim. Good grip on climbs, though. I very much agree with the other reviewer who mentioned compounds and casings. This tire is not intended for riding jank. Period. If you don't know what i mean then go read about those options on maxxis' website. I'm not sure why my local REI only carries this and no options with 3c, maxxgrip, or DD casings when that is the most optimal choice for our local trails/ conditions. Very disappointing and i'm left with no choice but to order directly from maxxis (unless i want another blowout).
Solid product.
I will preface this by saying I am a Maxxis fan. For the rocky Northeast they seem to hold up very well. The aggressor looks like a step down traction wise from the Minion family but so far it works well as a rear on my Process 111. I've hit it pretty hard and like the handling and traction. Size wise it is a tad narrow for a 2.3 which happens to work on my bike. YMMV there. For a rear application where you want toughness and reasonable traction and speed it's a solid choice.
Excellent traction. Love it.
I am now using this tire exclusively for my rear tire. I am enjoying the combo of Assegai front / Aggressor rear in the dry and loose conditions of the desert southwest. I formally only rode with Maxxis DHF/DHR combo, but I am now a big fan of how the Aggressor rolls and corners. Pairing it with the Assegai feels great in bike park, loam and dry loose conditions. I prefer the 2.5 width over the 2.3 inch width.
Great in the up hill
The Maxxis is very good in the up and down hill. It has good traction and minimal slipage. And so far, minimal ware. However, in the tight turns in deep sand and rock it is a disappointment. It slips a lot. I ride in trails that are loose sand and rock of all types with tight turns. Its not a good cornering tire. The former tire I used was far superior in the corners. When I ride I push it to the max and I am not comfortable doing that with the Maxxis.
Good rear tire - with extra fee
Very happy with the tire. Recommend as a rear tire for Phoenix trails. Wondering why I had to pay $6 more to purchase at store, compared to REI app. ?!?
Tubeless set up is a snap
Incredibly easy to set up tubeless. Maybe 10 minutes at the most. The bead seated using a floor pump. No miles on them yet but previous Maxxis tires have been almost indestructible. Can't wait to put these to the test!
Not worth the hype - Punctured on 1st ride
Go with a EXO+, DD, or DH cuz this tire is garbage for even moderately technical trails.
