I bought these pants because they were comfortable and fit well. The material seemed strong in the store so I was willing to pay for something nice. And I must admit, they do look good. After owning the pants for just 4 months I can comfortably say these are a waste of $90. I have only worn these pants moderately over the past 4 months. After just the 1st month the pants began to fade and discolor. As time went on the material began to thin and at the end of the 4th month the pants tore while I was outdoors. The tear was a result of sitting down on a rock and standing up. Worthwhile "climber" pants would only tear because they are unable to contain your pumped muscles while your cruxing on your proj. These pants tore because I sat down in them. Save yourself the money and get some worthwhile pants. Cheers.
Indoor climbed in these for about 3 months before the heavy fading turned into rips. They should market these as what they really are, joggers.
I have had these pants for a while but I have not worn them very often. Couple of reasons: 1. They are not that comfortable. The pants continue to pull down and don't allow movement. 2. just not a lot of places to wear them. Decided to go for a hike in them and try them out. Well as I was stepping over a tree the pants snagged just a little on a limb. The result was catastrophic. Ripped in every direction. Way too expensive for this to happen that easily.
I initially loved the fit and mobility of these pants, so much that I bought several pairs. After several wears, though, it's clear that they have durability issues; I had two pairs rip in the exact same spots (see attached photo). I do climb in them, but both tears are near the back pockets, so it's hard for me to imagine how they even would've happened. Not what you'd expect for $90.
I love these pants but after a year, maybe 40 wears, and mainly hand wash/hang dry the color is fading and there's a hole in the crotch. Knees are fading so they look like they're dusty and so are around the pockets. I've only worn them casually with the most strenuous activity been city cycling. As someone else said when I bought them they were "Ripstop climbers" and they've since taken climbers out of the name. Two stars because if they made the material better I'd love them.
I loved these pants for hiking and daily wear and put up with them fading quickly even when the blue started to look a bit pink. After they ripped in the seat, I did some handy dandy sewing to patch them up. Now, I go back to REI to see about buying a new pair and I discover that mine were not an anomaly. These are a couple of years old, but has Vuori changed their manufacturing so these are now actual ripstop and worth the price?
I bought these for a two week trip to California that consisted of a few days house boating on Lake Shasta, a week backpacking in Yosemite, and a few nights in SF/Oakland. I am always on the lookout for outdoor gear that is functional, comfortable, and rugged but with a great modern fit without looking too "extreme". These pants fit the bill perfectly, that is why I was so excited when I found them at my local REI. I bought the grey pair, and after owning them for a week before my trip, they became my favorite pair of pants. They looked so good I even wore them to the office. I had never heard of Vuori, but I thought this was a company that gets it and was excited to buy other colors and check out other products. Then I took them on my trip. After a few days of continuous wear on the house boat (not really much physical activity, mostly lounging on the deck) the color faded so badly. Now they have a this horrible faded reddish tinge to the once dark grey fabric. I was so disappointed. I lost confidence that they would hold up on the next leg of my trip backpacking through Yosemite backcountry... luckily I packed my Royal Robbins Alpine Road pants that have held up fabulously ofter several multi day backpacking trips and still look great. These pants have since been relegated to weekend gardening pants unfortunately. They have held up pretty well otherwise (not rips, seams are good, legs and knees aren't stretched out). But for a $89 pair of pants, I would think they should hold up a bit better... I would expect this kind of color fade from a $15 pair of H&M pants.
So, I don’t normally spend this much on a pair of pants but I had a gift card and decided it would be worth it because they seemed so durable. Primarily used these as casual dress, a few light hikes but nothing intense. They barely made it a few months before they ripped out at the rear pocket. I have H&M jeans that have lasted 10x as long and they cost $25.
Purchased 2.5 years ago. I was scrambling over some rocks in Sept 2022 while hiking and felt a breeze. This was what I had to wear for the 4 mile hike back. People are probably putting these pants in landfills but I'm going to continue to wear mine to show how bad this product is. I'm not sure why REI still carries it. I contacted Vuori and they would not stand behind their product for anything after 120 days.
These pants fit well, look good and feel good but they have terrible durability. I have gone through four pairs in 3 years but won't try them again. My most recent pair lasted only six months before the knees ripped out (the same that happened to all the others). I used them for climbing and hiking but wasn't especially hard on them considering they are supposed to be durable (Ripstop is in the name after all). Very disappointing considering the price. I also had issues with the color fading in the blue ones.
