I returned these shoes. I have had several pairs of Merrell shoes, they are always immediately comfortable. The design of this shoe is terrible. The tongue is a separate piece that is sewn on. Inside the shoe there is several layers of fabric. The shoes hurt across my feet at the same place on both feet. I turned the shoe inside out to see what the problem was. I was surprised to see so many layers of fabric, even folded on the corners to yield more layers. The shoes seemed ok when I first got them. I worn them to work a couple days. There is no way I could have hiked in these. I'm grateful for the awesome return policy at REI.
The insole does not curve up the outside edge of the shoe. Therefore your foot feels the stitches that connect the sections of the shoe. It feels like a thumb size pressure spot on the outside on my foot where the heel stops me the arch begins. I removed the insole and tried a Merrell Moab insole which is thicker and goes up the edge of the shoe. Presto! My foot does not feel the pressure spot. My opinion is that the insole is not adequate to protect your foot from the shoe’s stitching. As manufactured, I cannot recommend this shoe. However, change the insole, and you will be satisfied with the style and comfort. Try Merrelll Moab insert or a pair of Super Feet, or any quality supportive insert.
I purchased a pair of these 6 months ago and the mesh is tearing on both even though I don't use them heavily. I like to walk at a local nature preserve and average 2 to 3 hours walking per week. Would have thought that for the price these would have lasted longer. Also the toe box is wide and the mid-section is pretty narrow. Kind of a funny fit. Probably wouldn't have bought them if they hadn't been on sale!
I have bunions, so shoes, especially new shoes, are usually problematic for me. The first week I had these shoed, I did a 14 mile day. Since then, I've used them for almost daily walks on pavement, hiking trails, gravel, etc. They have been wonderful, but all good things must come to an end. I don't know how many miles I've walked in these shoes, but I know that I've walked over 130 miles since the COVID-19 lockdown on March 16. So they don't owe me a thing...I only wish Merrell still had them in my size. Thanks for the Memories!! On to a new pair of Merrells!!
I bought this shoe to take with me on a trip to Israel as an alternate shoe. I was concerned because I only had one week to wear them before the trip. I was blown away by the comfort and stability. I never wore another shoe for the entire two week trip. I walked over 25 miles a day on this trip. On rough terrain, rain-slick stone roadways and uneven dirt surfaces. I climbed in caves, hiked on hills and mountains, in the rain. My feet were comfortable and just as importantly, I did not have back and hip pain which I usually get when my feet/arches are not supported adequately. I plan on ordering a second pair, just to have an alternative in my closet.
I have been looking for a very light hiking shoe (support and protection without klunkiness) with good durability and comfort. I plan to take these on safari in Africa, so I also needed them to be olive, khaki or gray. I haven’t worn them for their intended purpose yet, but I’ve worn them around the neighborhood on walks. On my last safari I wore Moabs and they were fine, but overkill for what I needed them for. The Sirens are perfectly comfortable straight out of the box and they seem to be well made, so I am not anticipating any problems with them on safari. They feel more like a sneaker than a hiking shoe or even a trail runner.
These shoes have no arch support and the sole is so thin. I love Merrell shoes but these are not comfortable at all.
I wear these shoes on my daily dog walks. I really like them and am looking to buy a second pair. They are light and comfortable. Sometimes I just keep them on all day because they feel so good. I bought a half size larger to give my feet some room and they fit great.
A bit narrow, not much arch support but very light weight and breathable, great for summer time casual walking
I was cruising around DWS and found these. I did not intend to buy any shoes that day but tried them on just for kicks. The moment I put them on my feet were happy. They fit prefectly. I walk a lot for work. I also walk to and from work. I have been suffering from plantar fascititis and felt very supported in this shoe. I don't have the best arches. I am hoping that these help with my problem. Very excited. I can see how they may not be the best off roading trail shoe. You do feel wind inside which is nice when your feet get hot, but prob not the best for water, dust ect. But I think they will be great for my excessive walking tendancies and light hiking.
