This is the second pair of climbing shoes i've ever owned. Saw a review that said they were comfortable and odorless. So I bought them more than a year ago and these have been a blessing. After almost ripping a hole in my team 5.10's which were waaaay too tight and NEVER broke in, the momentums have been the best shoe i've used at the gym or the local crags. Extremely comfortable even for interphalangic-bunion-having-people like me. These will seriously stick, never been let down or felt that they were the reason I couldnt climb a problem. Im willing to buy them again after my first pair is destroyed in the years to come. And yes, these will not get stinky, they still smell like new shoes. Whats there not to love
If you are a beginner like me, its totally work, love them!
Nice quality! Love these gears!
Great shoes for starting out and gym climbing. Run true to street shoe size and they don't really stretch. Overall, pretty comfortable climbing shoes.
BD Momentum is my default climbing shoe for the gym and long days of climbing. There are few factors I like: 1) fit. I have rather wide "high volume" feet and those shoes fit me well. I wear 44 / 10.5W street shoes and BD momentum 11.5 are a very tight fit 2) price. I wear-out the shoes in 3-4 months of gym/outdoor climbing. Those are cheap enough to not bother with resoling For harder projects I might pool out some high performance shoes, or for cracks I might use shoes with more rubber on the top, but for 99% of climbing those are fine
For beginners that already accept their addiction. I’m on my 3rd pair in 4 years, having started with Lace-ups, then moved to Velcro. I thrash my shoes pretty well on my nearly daily sessions, and these stay sticky all the way to the end of life. I’ve been able to get up to a 5.11 (on newer, fresh edges mind you), but these beginner shoes will take you pretty far. I’m moving to a more aggressive profile, but can’t go long in them. When I want just do long sessions, I pull these out and lose track of time.
This is more my fault, but, regardless. They fit more narrow than I was expecting, which on my flat feet feels a little awkward at first. But, I ultimately like it (figuring it's going to help my climbing with a tighter foot). However, I could see others not liking this unexpected attribute as much. Also, the toe is less aggressive than I'd like. Again, probably my fault for not looking into that, so maybe I should give this five stars and give me four stars.
I have climbed a lot over the last 13 years and have gone through many pairs of rock shoes. I used a pair of Momentum shoes exclusively for aerobic climbing indoors, 2 to 3 days a week, and up to an hour of climbing in a session. They lasted me around 3 years! I can't believe it! Most shoes I use for that don't last me 1 year. They aren't that great for any performance climbing I do, but would be an excellent first pair. Super comfortable and breathable!
The shoes does run a little small but better fit than most. Less pain from the feet being cramped inside the shoe. Slides on easy and gets lots of compliments. The rigid base is really nice and stiff so I don't have to put as much effort into standing on smaller footing. The grip is in real, almost makes me feel like Spiderman. Over all a good shoe just wish it was a little bigger in the toe box and just a little longer.
I have been looking for a good climbing shoe for awhile that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Since I live 150 miles from the closest city I wanted to purchase online. Well finally my 4th purchase was a success. Women’s shoes are too narrow so I thought I would try a mens. It worked! These are snug but not painful! and I am hoping they stretch a little. I love these shoes and they are perfect for my needs!
