Probably not great for outdoor activities
Nice weight fabric, and I really wanted to like these, but durability is lacking. After just 2 weeks of wear (around the back yard, running errands - no “outdoor” activities) there are three or four nicks in the fabric and the pocket edge is starting to fray. I was expecting more from a hemp fabric, touted for its durability. Since I live in Arizona, I was hoping to wear these heavily through a couple of summers but it seems I’ll be lucky if these survive one. Definitely not worth the price tag. As my first Patagonia purchase, I’m now wondering if all their products are similarly overpriced, even in spite of their broad-view ethos.
lightweight
fits great! I normally wear size 36. I was worried that it might fit too tight but if feels comfortable more likely the relax fit. I'm 6' and comes to my just above my knee.
Great Fit, Comfy, Accurate Sizing
I've never worn hemp clothes before, but it feels nice and more breathable than cotton which is a plus in the hot summer months. I'm 6'2" and 195 lbs with a 34" waist and the 34" shorts fit perfectly; they came down to my knees. Typical Patagonia quality, I'd highly recommend them.
Way to small
I ordered a 34 but when I went to try them on, I thought I had ordered the wrong size. They were insanely small, like a 32 or maybe even a 30. I came to write the review and saw that some people had the opposite problem. Seem like nice shorts, but maybe just purchase in person!
Run insanely big
These are great all-purpose shorts- I've worn them hiking, canoeing, and around town. They're very lightweight and dry quickly. However, Patagonia has an odd definition of slim fit. These shorts run insanely big in the waist. Order at least one size smaller.
Great Phoenix shorts!
Lightweight and very comfortable shorts. The hemp material does wrinkle up a bit and is somewhat loose (i.e. it crawls up a bit when you're sitting down) but overall I'm pleased with them. Good comfortable summer time shorts.
New go to short
Fits as described. I love the light weight material. I’d buy these again.
Great Shorts
Great quality shorts! Super soft inside and durable.
Nice adult casual shorts
Excellent fit, looks and feels great. True to size.
Disappointing
Thought these would be more durable than some other Patagonia products I’ve tried recently but was wrong. Having a squirmy 25lb dog (with no sharp nails) on my lap for five minutes completely ruined them. They had tiny rips and little loose thread loops on the surface. Also they would ride up and get major wrinkles (think 3/4” pleats that never go away). Frustrating.
