Could be better
I bought this pack to replace my Patagonia Fuego, but I ended up sending it back. It was difficult to understand the description of the product without seeing it. The top zipper is only big enough for a laptop so the next zipper down is a lot smaller than I initially thought. Definitely not big enough to use to my school stuff (binder, books, etc). May be good as a hiking day pack, but then what's really the point of the laptop pocket? Anyway, very disappointed in the design and ended up getting a North Face pack when I could actually go in to REI. If you're looking for a good school pack, this is not it.
Great for school
I have been using my Patagonia pack for about a week now and I really like it! The side pockets are great for holding my water bottle and coffee tumbler. The padded laptop pocket is really nice to separate it from my school books. The pad also acts as a reinforcement to keep the pack sturdy on my back. I wish there were the elastic ties to keep the loose ends on the strap adjustments from flopping around, but other than that, I don't have any qualms with it! If you carry more than one binder with additional notebooks, it may be too small of a pack for you.
Excellent every day bag
I've had this a few weeks now, and have been carrying it for just about everything. I'm not a student any more, so I don't have a bunch of textbook/binders to carry, but do have a laptop (15.6" HP) that fits perfectly in the sleeve. It is padded and doesn't sit on the floor if standing straight up. The laptop sleeve is the top zipper, next is the main compartment. In there I've had everything from cables/portable monitor, an extra layer, a notebook, etc. The next zipper is the sunglasses pocket. I love this pocket as when I travel my sunglasses were always getting beat up in one of the other pockets. This keeps them safely at the top of the bag. Also, keeps my headphones at the top and the cable from getting snagged on everything. Next is the front zip, with a few organizational pockets. Pens, snacks, etc, everything fits in there. When the main compartment is full, this front pocket still protrudes outward, instead of having all of the space utilized by the expanded main pocket. The water bottle pockets are probably my biggest complaint. If the main compartment is full, they aren't that useful since they aren't expanding outward. Or if a nalgene is stuck in one, then the main compartment loses some space. But, the pockets are deep enough that stuff doesn't fall out, so that is a plus. On the front you've got a few daisy chains to clip anything on to if necessary. I'm a light traveler, usually just a few extra outfits. and maybe an outer layer. I can get a 4-5 day trip out of this bag without needing to wear things twice, assuming I don't need to bring additional footwear. All in all, this is a great every day bag that won't break the bank.
Life long commitment
This bag has supported me through many journeys, whether that be a long flight, a day hike, a busy day at the office that includes rocking two laptops on the go, an overnight stay at my Grandmas place. I've owned this bag since 2018 and I rock it daily still.
Design Flaw
Awesome pack!!! With one flaw; the side bottle pockets aren't large enough to have any quantity of school stuff inside AND have a water bottle and coffee cup on the outside. Seems like the pouches are flush with the outside of the bag, and the bottles/cups push into, and take storage space away from the interior. With a loaded main compartment, it's virtually impossible to get a coffee up into one side, let alone a second bottle on the other.
Great all around pack
I use this for work and for hiking. It is simple and sturdy. It has a nice look to it as well.
Real small
Ended up giving this pack to my wife for 2 reasons. 1. The color scheme is more girly in person, and 2. It felt really small and looks weird on a person over 6ft tall
Great bag
Just bought this to replace my over the shoulder computer bag. This is much more practical for my job walking around plants all day. My 17" laptop barely makes it, but I am able to squeeze in my portable monitor too. Water bottle holders are large enough for nalgene bottles. I've had that problem with other bags.
Awesome school backpack
I use this pack every day when walking to school and it feels really comfortable and light. I have only used it for a school pack but I can see it being perfect for hiking as well.
Nice bag but small
It's a nice bag with many pockets and comfortable but it's a little small for a person tall
