These laces dont seem to last more than 6 months before the plastic sleeve that crimps the ends of the laces is damaged or flaking. They should be using metal or dipping them in a flexible adhesive. Pretty dissapointing given this is the only lace REI sells and I generally dont associate them with junk. The actual cordage itself seems to hold up fine. Buy them in a pinch but there are definetly better laces out there. For what its worth these laces are made in China.

These braided boot laces appear to be indestructible. They are a tightly woven nylon cord, reminds of paracord. Once knotted, they tend to loosen due to the thickness of the cord. I know all the knotting tricks. I have similar, thinner laces that hold fast. More field testing REI!

These laces are fine for the price. Why only 4 stars? Even double knotted, they don’t stay tight and over time work loose.

I used these laces to replace the ones that came with my hiking shoes. They were always coming loose. These stay nicely tied all day, which sounds like what a lace should but doesn't always do. Simple solution--satisfied user.

If you have 7 gromets, you need at least 60” to tie well or longer if you want to double knot. Great laces for hiking boots.

This low review is only for sizing, not the quality of the product. Bought these to replace the laces on my Vasque St Elias boots. The REI rep recommended this size based on the number of eyelets on the boots (7 per side, 14 total). The laces were just long enough to lace regularly. Too short for any special lacing or knotting. I went back to REI and got the 60 inch from the same brand - perfect!

So so laces. Put them in my boots and they started to show wear withing a couple of months. Might work for light duty, but I am pretty hard on my boots.

These laces met my need for replacement laces for my hiking boots. They are strong and somewhat elastic, allowing me to tighten my boot around my foot better. My only complaint is the sizing on the packaging: I bought the next size smaller because it said (7 or 8 eyeholes). My boots had 8. Those laces did not fit big time. The next size up fit better, but I think the packaging should be mistrusted or fixed.

Bought these to replace laces in woman's Merrill WP hiking shoes. Work better than the original laces - not as likely to come undone.
