Make sure that you're not doing something wrong.
Nice stout irons, the screwdriver-like end is really nice for picking the tire bead away from the inner tube to avoid a pinch. If you have to use the amount of force that these tools are capable of, stop, double check to make sure that you are not making a mistake somewhere.

NOT steel core
These levers DO NOT have a full steel core. The center of the handle is metal, but the tips are made of flimsy plastic. Both levers in the set snapped under minimal pressure when using them for the first time.

Not any stronger than cheap levers!

I specifically bought this set of levers because I thought they were made with a steel core to help me remove some particularly tight tires. Turns out they don't have steel cores on the end where the most leverage is applied. As such, they aren't any stronger than any other levers. Mine snapped almost immediately. I couldn't believe they are just plastic on the ends. Terrible product, REI. What are you thinking?

Fail

Got mine in the $225 kit. I know how to use tire levers, and with the warnings from reviews, I was careful. Snap! went the red one. Snap! went the black one. Cheap, all plastic levers to the rescue. I have used many tools from the kit - it rocks. So do I return the whole thing for $9 levers? I will not - just buy some more $5 Pedros to put in the kit.

Piece of junk

Broke the first time I used it. The product claimed to be reinforced with metal; not true, the plastic broke right on the pressure point where there is no metal reinforcement.

junk

Broke one upon first use installing some new Maxxis DH's on my bike a while ago. Last night I broke the second one while installing some new Continental Kryptotals. The tips are very brittle and break easily. Park tool makes some metal backed levers that are worth buying. I'd like to mention that I haven't been happy with many products from feedback sports so far... multiple tools from a kit I purchased have failed me.

Not as advertised

The tip broke just like all other levers do. The core had metal but the tips are just like every other product. The idea is good, but the product doesn't add up to what I was sold.

The steel core makes a difference.

While the steel adds some weight, they add the extra strength that I need to get my mountain bike tires off their rims. I’ve always struggled with the simple little plastic ones watching them flex, and even break making a simple tube repair take far too long. I've already had to fix 1 flat since getting these a few weeks ago and they are a game changer. They slid in with relative ease and the tool did not bend when separating the tire from the rim wall. It worked on the first attempt without fuss making my tube repair much shorter.
