Eh.... could've sent us a new/clean bag
My daughter was so excited about this backpack. She grabbed it within minutes of the shipment being delivered, however, there are clearly marks/stains on the bag. Was this a prior return that someone used? Do the warehouse/packing employees not wear gloves? This color is not sold in our local store, and she is adamant that we not return it (only because she wants to carry it to school tomorrow). I'm highly disappointed but we're keeping it. This is her second Fjallraven backpack, and we didn't have this problem when we ordered from Nordstrom. This is our first negative experience with REI. You're always great, but this time we're disappointed...
Excellent Daily Backpack
I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations. . The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.. ..This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!
Not sustainable
Bought the bag for my daughter to utilise for school. Thoroughly disappointed with the product. You say that you look at the durability and reliability of the product. It has broken at the zip so sustainability is not the same as promised . Would not recommend this product
Not as great as expected
I was really excited about this bag but ultimately was left a bit disappointed. The material is pretty durable, but I found it impossible to keep the bag from wrinkling, and especially with the yellow bag, the color showed signs of wear after just a week of hiking. The side pockets are maddeningly small — hard to fit even a narrow water bottle in. Icing on the cake, the dyes for the bag bled during my first week wearing it — I just ran a wash and noticed there’s yellow stains on the back of multiple of my shirt. Just expected a little more for such an expensive backpack..
This bag is the perfect size for me!
I have been eyeing this bag for a while but hesitated due to its cost. I was debating between this size and the mini Kanken, but when I looked at the mini it was way too small for what I wanted to use it for (to carry snacks for my 3 kids, wallet, sunglasses, water bottles, makeup, etc. This bag is the perfect size and holds a lot! The only thing I would say is that the straps can hurt after using it a while. I got the green color and it’s a nice army green shade. I like the fact that it’s water resistant so I plan on bringing it with me to Disney World during rainy season!
amazing bag
I absolutely love this backpack so far (I haven't actually used it yet, but all of my things fit with some room to spare and it seems like it's great quality). I'll be using it for everyday carrying since I wanted to have a bag I could fit a sweater in when needed. The color is beautiful (a little brighter than it shows in any of the REI/amazon/etc photos (I got it in "ochre") and it's nice and simple (no extra/hidden pockets, and the pockets it does have are small and sturdy). Looking forward to using it, seeing how it does, and will try to update my review if anything changes. :)
Bag arrived dirty & worn looking
I received the backpack in what looks like used condition. It came in the shipping bag without any other packaging. The ends of the bag are dirty & look worn. The price tag is attached with brown twine, which to me looks like it could be cut off and reattached if someone else used this bag & returned it. This is a Christmas gift for my daughter and I am super disappointed.
Great for everyday used.
This backpack is great if you want a backpack that isn't too big or too small. Good enough to carry for everyday use. Plenty of space to carry essentials. The backpack quality is rugged and immaculate and very stylish as well.
Comfortable and stylish work or school bag
I was pleasantly surprised at how supportive this bag feels while I'm wearing it, I feel like I could keep it on for a long time with no discomfort. It's a little costly but honestly, if you're getting a Kanken it's for the fashion and they do look great, every color I've seen has been pleasant to look at. Build quality is rock solid, no visible seams or stitches are apparent. The boxy shape of this bag is best for carrying books (or in my case, board games) but I've found myself gravitating to this one as my go-to city bag for the comfort and convenience of the top carry handles. I wouldn't really recommend this for hiking though, the water bottle pockets are tiny and the back has no ventilation. If you're getting this as a fashionable work or school bag I think you'll be really pleased.
Couldn’t love it more!!
Was so happy with my experience at REI and my Fjällräven itself! An AMAZING backpack super durable material and the shape is surprisingly wonderful. It holds a great amount of stuff without appearing bulky like normal shaped backpacks I have do (north face—as much as I love my north face as well) this bag is just so trendy and functional and I would 100% recommend :)
