Run very small
While the quality and design of the shoe are exciting, they run extremely small! My son normally wears a size 2 sneaker. I purchased a 3 and he couldn't even get them on his foot - I am reordering a size 4 in the hopes that it will fit but will be frustrated if I end up having to ship them back, at my own expense, twice! There is also no size chart posted and I couldn't find anything online to help figure out a suggested size. At the time I purchased there were no reviews posted anywhere as this is a new product.
sizing
Good shoe. However, order a size larger than shoe size, AT LEAST. My daughter wears a size 2-3 in most street shoes. (Most are 2’s) The size 4’s were tight. So we’re into a women’s size 5! My main gripe with this is....An 8 yo who wears a size 2 street shoe, shouldn’t have to pay women’s shoe pricing for climbing shoes(size 5)
cute but run really small
far from a rock climbing expert. My daughter is taking classes and loves it so far. She is a size 1 typically. Even the size 3 was too small. cute shoes though.
Good quality. Sized incorrectly.
These seem well made, but others have said, they sizing is WAY off. My 5 year old wears a 10. I ordered 12s, and they still weren’t even close. Even if she was an experienced climber, masochistically cramming her feet into tiny shoes in the name of performance, I’m not convinced we would get them on her. I want her to be comfortable, so she likes climbing. She can later make the choice to punish her feet just like the rest of us. I’m ordering up 2 more sizes (yes, 4, FOUR sizes bigger than her normal shoes). Kids’ feet grow fast.
Fantastic beginners shoe
These are great for the kiddos. Excellent traction on the wall. Encourages good footwork. Quick on and off. Try them on before you buy them. Sizing is always a tricky thing in the climbing shoe world.
Best Youth Shoe for General Climbing
We have gone through two pairs of these as my daughters feet grew from age 4-7. Yes they run at least 1 size small, it was 2 sizes small for my daughter; that is no reason to downgrade the rating as many others have. My daughter has wide feet and always worn a minimalist style shoe as soon as she began toddling. We tried 3 the brands that REI offers each time we bought new shoes. Everything else was too tight/narrow. Grip is excellent. We often Boulder where dry lichens grow sporadically and dust accumulates. Even with good cleaning and careful foot placement there’s always some poor friction spots. Her foot has never slipped regardless of where it’s placed. Couldn’t be happier with this show.
Great shoe - Sized incorrectly
These shoes are very nice shoes, they are too small based on their sizing. my daughter wears a 8/9 and in these shoes an 11 fits!
Order several sizes up
Definitely order a few sizes up. My son had just graduated from size 12 to 13 kids shoes and a size 2 fit him almost perfectly. Whether as a placebo because he has cool shoes, or he trusts his feet more, or they actually are helping, his climbing and confidence on the wall increased a lot after getting these. As a former climbing/mountain guide, I was skeptical of the need for kids to even wear climbing shoes, but these really seem to have helped.
Super cute and comfy
Super cute colors and great feel to the shoes. Sizing is way off - purchased a size 3 for our size 13-1 daughter. But our daughter is absolutely thriving on the wall; she has gained so much confidence and has exploded with her skills. She trusts her feet and she loves wearing these shoes.
Run way small
I ordered these for my toddler and, true to many of the other reviews I’ve read, these run ridiculously small. My kid consistently wears a 28 EU with ski boots, shoes, etc. and there was no way these shoes, in a 28, are anywhere near that. For a kids climbing shoe, all you really need is comfort, so I’m sure performance-wise these are fine, but it’s a real pain to not be able to rely on sizing from such a big name brand.
