I'm not sure why lots of reviewers seem to hate this cord. It's a bit stiff but seems to be holding knots without issue. Even though friction hitches probably aren't the cord's strong suit, I tied some into a purcell prusik and it's easily able to hold my weight without slipping(<200lbs).

Extremely stiff, unusable for friction knots

This cord is extremely stiff and is unusable for friction knots. I've tried to break it in but it remained stiff. The cord in the attached photo was squeezed in to a zigzag with hand pressure. It is pointing freestanding up in the air (not resting on the wall).

Extremely Stiff - Can't think of climbing use!

This is an extremely stiff accessory cord. I can't really think of a climbing use where this would be ideal. I ended up using it in my garage to run Metolius Rock Rings through pulleys attached to weights as an exercise 'machine' ... so it's essentially 'Home Depot' rope in my opinion. I'm curious what BlueWater was thinking would be the appropriate use for this extremely stiff rope? REI should take this out of the climbing section. I would for sure return it if I didn't already cut the rope in half.

Should never be sold for prussiks

Took this to Mt Baker to cut and use for prussiks. It was terrible to work with. Our guides (several of us on the trip bought this cord) thought it was terrible as well and wanted us to tell REI to not sell this cord any longer. I threw it out as soon as my trip was over.

Super stiff

As with other reviews, this cord is really stiff. It's hard to tie a good knot in as it doesn't really cinch tight due to the stiffness. Definitely wouldn't use it to tie a friction knot for a rappel backup. Not very good for climbing use, REI should stop carrying this and replace it with Sterling or another quality accessory cord.

Stiff but workable depending on your needs.

Purchased to use as extra insurance (stronger bow and stern tie-downs) when I have my kayak strapped on my roof rack, overkill for the application but cheap and gives me peace of mind. For a 6mm cord it is extremely stiff, had trouble getting knots to cinch down, you'll need to leave plenty on the tag end so you can get enough grip to tighten any knots before putting them under load. I like the cord for what it is but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable putting it to the test with my life.

Stiff

Way to stiff. Not really practical for climbing. I ended up using it for climbing holds in my home.

Accessory rope fits the use!

Used to make a rope ladder for my hunting tree stand. Works excellent. Is durable, provides no stretch and secure knots! All the properties my project requires. Not the typical use for this rope but fit the bill!

Purcell Prusik

Like the other reviewer I used the cord to tie my purcell prusik tethers. The sheath is stiff, but I did not have any problems getting it to hold knots... I've been using the purcells for over a year now. The sheath is extremely durable, but probably to stiff for an autoblock...
