Just got back from a short ski trip up in chilly Vermont - with just a pair of heattech leggings underneath, my legs stayed warm and dry all throughout! I also went to Mammoth, CA earlier in the season with the same layers and I stayed comfortable - if I got too hot I just opened up the zips on the inner thighs to cool off! I definitely think they are perfect ski pants and definitely worth the price. I’m 5’4 and 124lbs with larger thighs/hips/butt and I seem to fit into the XS perfectly! I got the Beryl Green which are super cute and I finally found a jacket to match. Super stoked to wear these all season!
Yes, you read that right. NEGATIVE THIRTY NINE DEGREES FARENHEIT. Planned a trip to Alaska for our honeymoon this winter to see the northern lights. Planned for -15F but not -39. These pants did great anyway. 2 base layers or 1 base later plus pants under these pants, and I was toasty warm. Did great skiing. Also went swimming at chena hot springs and saw the northern lights on the way back to the hotel room- laid down in the snow, wet, and was still warm! Very comfortable, lots of room for movement. Loose in the waist, which is perfect for layering, plus they have Velcro to tighten if you need. Yes, they’re insulated. I’m 5.7 and 135 lbs, usually wear a size 6. Medium fit perfectly with layers underneath.
After 7 years in the same North Face pants and searching every season for a replacement, and having tried most everything in the $150 - 300 range, finally, pants that fit a “developed” butt and thighs and tighten up in the waist so there is no gap. I am 5 feet 10 inches, 175 pounds, and got the large. They are not form fitting but not too baggy either and very comfortable. Will take to Montana shortly so can’t vouch for warmth but based on other reviews, they should do the trick. Also like that they have a higher rise than Burtons, or some others I tried. Could use a back pocket or two but my jacket has plenty of pockets...
I'm in love with these pants. I'm 5'9, 140 pounds and normally wear a size 5/6. I bought a size small, dark currant color. The length is perfect. The fit is perfect. I've been skiing with them twice. Super comfortable and warm. Granted, the day I skied it was pretty warm in the mid-30s, I can tell I will be comfortable in colder conditions. I didn't have long underwear underneath and I was toasty. High recommend.
I bought these 2 winters ago as a desperation buy during a polar vortex and they are still going strong. I work as an equine ambulatory vet, which translates to working outside in WI and am frequently kneeling, squatting, lunging, etc while I work. From mid-October to mid- April, I wear these pants 5 days a week for 12-13 hours a day and they get washed 2-3 times a week. I can honestly say they do not have a single tear or seam beginning to fail - even the Patagonia label on them is unphased when most would have peeled off in the wash long ago. I am going to invest in another pair this winter not because I really feel they are on the way out, but because I realize I have become so dependent on them that I don’t want to risk going a day without.
I am 5’6” and 210. I carry my weight pretty evenly with a little extra in my hips and thighs. I purchased the XL and this is the only snow pant I’ve found that gives enough room for base layers in my true size. They also sit a bit higher up on the waist so I’m not constantly pulling them up. Perfect amount of room in the hips and thighs to move comfortably snowboarding. The bootcut is not excessively wide and the length is perfect. I’ve tried the Columbia Bugaboo and North Face Freedom pants and these are my absolute favorite. Worth every penny!
Tried on at least 10 pairs to find one that fit. I'm 5'1, 115 lbs and like a lot of layers underneath my ski pants so need some space. XS was just right. These do seem to be a petite fit, so great for me, but imagine they would be too short if you are more than 5'5. Also, they are only a mild boot cut so not too wide. The waist is adjustable from the inside. Haven't worn on the slopes yet, but have a comfortable fit. The insulation is very light.
I've got much bigger hips/butt, so nearly all pants leave a huge gap in the waist. It's not so flexible that they fit like a glove, but they fit great and gave me freedom of movement while snowboarding while keeping the snow out. Worked great for a week of daily snowboarding, had cheap Costco base layer on underneath and was comfortable the entire time. Usually I'm a mess with regulating body temps and always shedding or adding layers.
These ski pants are fantastic! I layered them with fleece leggings and stayed toasty on a recent ski trip to Utah. I also wore them in warmer temps in southern PA with the vents open and stayed comfortable as well. I love the adjustable waist so I can tighten or loosen them depending on the layers I'm wearing. I think these pants will last me a very long time. I'm 5'5" and weigh 135 lbs and a size M was perfect for me to allow room for layering.
I am 5'4" and 115 pounds. I wear a size 25 jeans, and am usually an XS for non-numbered sizes. I have what I think is a moderately big butt. It's not huge but it definitely not flat. I have never considered "curvy" as an adjective that would describe me, but after two weeks of trying on snow pants I was starting to wonder if I'd misunderstood my body type all these years. I had a hand-me-down pair of 686 slim fit in XS that I could squeeze into but if I needed to bend over the button came undone - impossible to re-button when you're wearing snowgloves and pointless as it will just come undone when you need to bend again. When shopping for new pants, everything slim fit that would fit over my butt was HUGE around the waist, like 5-6inch gap huge. XS in relaxed fit type pants were huge everywhere. These pants (in XS) fit perfectly!! I could hear the choir singing as I zipped them up. They are slightly loose around the waist but there are velcro straps on the inside of the waistband that allow you to tighten it without a belt. AND they have vents (why don't all snow pants have vents?!), AND they were on sale! TBD how they function on the mountain, but my other patagonia stuff I think is great quality so I have high hopes. I'm just happy I can bend my knees now without busting a button.
