Smartwool  Isto Retro Beanie

I love lots of things about this hat, it is soft, warm, and has several colors stitched in, so it matches well with lots of other clothing. I do have a couple of reservations about it -- mostly that even as a person with a larger head, it seems big (usually smartwool beanies and caps are small on me), and the material is so soft that it has a tendency to slide down over my eyes. I rectify this by wearing my microweight cap underneath, so that it has a surface to "stick" to. I did wash and dry it to see if it might shrink at all, which didn't seem to make any difference. It held up very well through the wash and dry cycles.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a very large noggin, and this is truly the first stocking camp that is uber comfortable with not a stitch of too-tightness around my entire head. It's amazing. I'm a little sensitive to the itchiness of wool, and while I can feel it a bit, it hasn't stopped me from wearing it for hours on cold days or just lounging around--maybe in the future a lining could be added around the forehead, but if not, I'd still buy this hat again and again... I mayyyy need another color yet this winter. I feel like I'm "in style" which is rare for me... and I'm cozy. Well done! I love the color combos as well... festive and fun!

Have just received the retro beanie and am so glad I decided to try it. I too have a larger head than most women and have other brand hats ready for return! Its so frustrating that finally finding a hat that fits and doesn't "pop up" or end way above my ears has me anxious to get another right away! There seems to be a shortage in sized hats for women and the usual ladies offerings are too small. Gave up a while ago and just had to make do with hooded jackets! This hat looks stylish but is comfortable and not an obviously mans hat to fit a larger head!

I literally can never find a warm hat that fits my large noggin... this one is amazing... not too tight, just right, and warm--just shoveled snow on a brisk day and felt all toasty. super soft and stretchy, not itchy as far as wool goes (I'm rather sensitive)... great color combos! I recognized this hat on someone else (different color scheme), gave a big compliment, and the woman echoed my excitement about this hat. WELL DONE! Thanks for making it big and soft and stretchy!

Warm hat with a looser knit that doesn't squeeze your head or mat your hair down. The pom pom is a bit too big and heavy, so it bounces when you walk in a slightly annoying way. I ended up pulling some of the yarn out to make the pom pom smaller. It's easy to do and helped reduce the bounciness a little.

I have a big head, and many women's hats are too tight. This one is great! It slides down a little too low sometimes, but I've worn it everywhere. It's -22 tonight, but my head stayed warm...

Fan of Smartwool, and was excited to get this hat for my wife. Unfortunately the pom unraveled within the first week of owning it and only wearing it once. Tried contacting Smartwool with no response. Unfortunately, I will think twice about buying Smartwool in the future.

I had this hat in a different color, and it looked unisex, so I bought one for my husband who loved the color combination. He loves the hat, it fits well, and it's warm. The quality is great! We actually bought a few more after I bought this one!

I absolutely loved this hat. I've had mine for a few years and just recently lost it, I'm very sad by it. Especially because my blue/yellow/red combo is no longer available. But it was such a cute and warm hat I'm going to buy another one!
