Exceeded Expectations
I purchased both the Skagit and AquaBound 4 piece paddles to test drive . I expected to like the lighter Aquabound more. After trying both out on the river, the Werner Skagit was my hands down preference. The fit and finish of the shaft and shaft were higher quality. Most importantly, it clearly had more power per stroke. The Werner allows me to control my kayak and move through the water more efficiently.
Solid and Durable
Love this paddle! Great entry level paddle that packs down small, given the 4 piece setup. I've taken this apart dozens and dozens of times with no issues. No issues with flexing, it paddles as if the shaft were solid. I also love being able to adjust the feather angle in fine 15 degree increments on the fly.
Good, and portable
to separate it to 4 pieces, it can be stored in my advanced elements inflatable kayak tranceport bag together.
An excellent paddle
This is a great four part paddle. The parts come apart easily, unlike many slightly less expensive paddles. And the paddle seems very well balanced.
Nice mid-level 4 piece kayak paddle
Got this for the fact that it breaks down into 4 pieces for travel. I particularly like the smooth feel of the carbon shaft and how the three connection points snap together solidly but also break apart without needing wrenching or forcing (something that I noted to be a slight issue with my 4 piece Aqua Bound). The blade design provides a very nice paddle stroke although I keep a very fast paddle cadence and felt that I was working a little harder than I have with higher end paddles in order to maintain my usual cadence.
Sore shoulders after an hour of use.
I found this Kayak Paddle to be too heavy and after a short time of paddling in the San Juan islands my shoulder started to hurt. I have another the two piece Werner paddle Camano and have had none of these problems with that paddle.
My Favorite Paddle
I have similarly priced 4-piece low angle paddles from Aqua-Bound, Canon and Accent. This is my favorite. Pieces are also sized so each of the 4 pieces is about the same length. The Aqua-Bound paddle is also very nice but the middle tubes are long making packing difficult.
Excellent paddle
I’d have had this paddle for almost 4 years now and really enjoy using it. The smooth connection point on the shaft is a winner and the paddle blades work perfect for my needs in all waters I’ve kayaked and fished. The portability is excellent. The quality feel of the product is excellent.
