Now that we're both over 60 the old man and I needed something comfier to keep us camping another couple of decades. And we love this camp bed as much as all the other 5 star reviewers. But wait! There's more! We discovered that it super-insulates our crummy old cooler! Before you go out for the day, wrap the cooler in bedding and cover it with your Exped MegaMat. This worked so well for us we still had ice after 5 days (without the MegaMat ice lasts 2 days max). So the MegaMat saved us from buying one of those fancy $400 coolers! YAY!....... PS it's EASY to deflate and roll up. And a standard double fitted sheet fits the double MegaMat.
I’m doing a masters program and part of it requires me to live in the desert outside of Santa Fe. I tried 3 different pads in which all were not robust enough for cactus or whatever else is sharp enough to put a hole in everything I own, but this pad has proven to be a match for the desert as well as the extreme cold I have been living in. I don’t even notice how cold it is anymore. My only complaint is I wish the REI employees would have recommended this one first which would have saved me many trips into town, patching pads and many an uncomfortable night’s rest. Time is my biggest asset right now and this pad has been the king to helping me feel like I have a grip on it.
Wow. I've been looking for the perfect sleeping pad and here it is. ULTRA comfortable. It's like your bed at home. Doesn't look air over the course of a week. Self inflating makes it easy to setup, although it does require help from a powered pump. The hand pump supplied with this pad is a joke. Overall, I'd say it's nearly perfect. Setup and breakdown are both quick as well. It's not noisy and doesn't make rubber noises as you move around during the night. I'm well over 300 lbs and 6'4" and found it to be great.
We are obsessed with this mat. It's so comfy we use it for guests at our house and it's been our main bed for the last month as we just moved into a new house. We LOVE it. It takes a few nights to get the absolute most out of it but even on the first night it's still super comfy and awesome. Comes with a mini manual inflator to speed up the process if you're anxious to get to bed. It just keeps getting better over 2,3,4 nights. Our camping friends threw away their air mattress after seeing our mat and now they own it too. We love it so much that we bought a full size waterproof fitted mat from Emoor (Japan) to cover it. Have I said perfect enough?
Exped Megamat Duo 10 is the world best mat I've ever experienced, and then I strongly recommend Exped for your beautiful camping life. Above all, this is absolutely really comfortable, feels good touch to our skin, and, makes no noise. Second, this is so convenient to insert and remove air because of their excellent system. Last, it is not only thick in thickness but also excellent in keeping the cold out from the earth. But Exped Megamat Duo 10 (size: Medium) was so big for my car to sleep in. Some reviewers wrote that Medium-sized Exped fits most of the SUVs well, but it is not true. You can refer my picture which I attached, it was definitely oversized.
We just returned from a car camping tour of Spain and Portugal and the MegaMat made it wonderfully comfortable no matter what campground we ended up in. Throw it in the tent, set up camp, and it's ready for few extra puffs with the oh so clever pump pillow. Extremely durable, still looks new, not a hint of trouble with the "valves" , which is where we've had failures with some expensive blowup camping pads. When we did go to an AirBnB or hotel, we always compared those beds with the Megamat and some were found wanting! More than worth the price for making a long trip comfortable. Deflating became a quick ritual with the 2 of us and was never a problem.
We had a normal air mattress that you can buy anywhere and when it got cold here in Alaska, it was pretty miserable sleeping on top of the old one. This one is so much more comfortable and warm that it feels like a normal bed. Fits perfectly in the back of our 2016 Subaru Outback. You don’t really feel the other person move like other cheaper mats. Fits in most rear cars and most double person tents. (This is the regular sized mat and NOT the double as it would not fit in the rear vehicle)
This very comfy pad is slightly too big to fit in my little tent, or in the back of my little SUV, so I will probably not use it for camping (but I’m sure others have bigger tents where this will be awesome). But it is an excellent extra bed for house guests. It inflated quickly, and very firmly, making it very comfy. While it self-inflates quite a bit, it does need a boost to finish it off, from the included air pump which is surprisingly efficient. The only negatives, in my opinion, are: —Deflation is pretty cumbersome. But I guess that is due to the thickness that makes it so comfortable. — I wish there was some sort of handle to make it easier to move around.
Our Exped MegaMat Duo was purchased in 2022. It was used indoor and also in a EV car. We were in general happy until one night we woke up from sound of outer fabric peeling off and huge bubble expanding. It eventually got huge since we slept on the mattress all night during our trip. This happen on Dec 2nd, which was about 1 year and few weeks after purchase. I was expecting this mattress to last much longer especially considering how well it was kept. The bubble got bigger after we took the photo that you can see in this review.
After reading many reviews about MegaMat Duo Long, I finally purchased in Dec 2022. However, it sat in my hard shell roof top tent, in the garage for a year while the vehicle was being outfitted and getting ready for use. I finally used it for its first camping trip last week only to have the mattress deflate after a few hours. It appears that the entire seam on the top just above the fill/de-flate ports is delaminating and has split open. Mind you it was only sat on a few times after install before being used for sleeping. This is quite disappointing. It seems as though it's a manufacturing defect. I have submitted a warranty/repair request with Exped. Depending on the resolution I will adjust my review accordingly.
