Free Hands!

I've always held water bottles in my hands when I run, or wear a running belt (both of which I'm not a huge fan of). Last night I took the vest out for a 7mile run and it was fantastic. It stayed in place, didn't bounce around, was comfortable to wear, and the design is perfect! My only complaint is that it chafed a little bit near my armpits so I'll have to use something to prevent the chafing. I'm really tiny up top so the xs/s is perfect! Other than that I love it! Plenty of pockets for gel's and things. I have my 3rd marathon coming up in June so I am really looking forward to not having to carry water in my hands or around my waist! Love Osprey and it's products (I own a few).

Great for long runs OR short runs on a hot day

This vest was initially purchased for half marathon training; however, it was extremely useful for short runs on hot/humid summer days. The vest is easy to adjust and does not bounce/move while running. One trick to reduce sloshing noises is to remove excess air before putting the bladder in the vest. After filling with water, turn the bladder upside and suck out the excess air. My only complaint which is common with most backpacks/vests is that the pack rubs on the center of the back where most sports bra clasps are located. Avoid this issue by wearing a sports bra without any clasps on the back.

Great fit and stays put

5'2", 125lbs, 36B, athletic build. I bought the S/M. I am usually a size small shirt, but the XS/S version of this pack was too tight around my armpits. The S/M fits great and doesn't bounce when running. I used to use a traditional camelback or waste pack and I was constantly adjusting the fit while running and was always annoyed by the bouncing. With this I just put it on and go, not sure why I waited so long to switch to one of these. This pack also has some really nice added features - multiple front easy-access pockets, magnetic clip for straw is amazing, adjustable chest straps are pretty slick too.

Osprey > Camelbak

I recently purchased this along with a Camelbak & in comparison, this is a far more superior product, but both bladders are a little pain to clean (as expected). The flow of water is way more easier with the Osprey than it is with the Camelbak in that the Osprey requires just a light bite for a a great & steady flow of water where with the Camelbak, you have to put some effort into sucking the water after the bite. The fit is fantastic and I didn't experience any movement, when running with the vest. There is plenty of rooms & pockets for necessities to carry like a wallet, snacks, phone, hat, shades. I also like the use of a magnetic valve instead of the Camelbak's plastic clip, it just makes it a lot easier for me to access it that trying to un-clip it.

Great for long distance runs~

I bought this hydration pack about a month ago as I began training for a half-marathon (my first long distance run). I usually do not like carrying items while I run so I wanted a pack that was not heavy but could accommodate my keys, phone, snack, etc. The pack fits great, snug, but not tight and does not rub any exposed skin. Easy to adjust straps and the buckles (snaps) are also easy to use. I hardly notice the pack as I am running and I always have more than enough water leftover! Can't say enough great things and would definitely recommend for running or hikes!

loved how it carries

Adjusted snug and secure. Easy to access pockets. No rubbing or scratchy areas A positive and negative : water is right next to your back. So if the bladder is frozen it keeps you cool! But if it isn't cold starting off , your water will be warm and only get warmer - while running. Which is not very desirable in my opinion.

Hydration on the go!

I purchased this to make up for the lack of fountains on my running route it took a little bit to get used to but once I got the hang of having the extra weight on my back it was the perfect solution. It's very comfortable, little to no shifting of weight with the vest. Plenty of pockets for electronics, nutrition, and any other small items you might need on your trek. I ended up putting the nozzle in the pocket to keep it from jostling too much & it has worked out great. I really like the magnetic clip to the strap.

Very functional running pack

I bought this for running and walking my dog. I like how it sits up high on my torso and the extra pocket in back. It has enough room in front to hold my ID, gloves, keys, headband and phone. There is a zippered pocket I can use for my ID and the pockets are deep enough where I do not have to worry about anything falling out while I am running. The bladder is tricky to open at first because you have to pull apart the two sides of the mouth which seems like you will rip it, but it does come apart. I would recommend a bladder cleaning kit to clean and most importantly dry the bladder. Because of the excellent anti-leak design the bladder will not stay open to dry between uses unless propped open somehow. In a bladder cleaning kit there is a device that props open the mouth of the bladder and allows it to dry. I would recommend going to the Osprey website and watching the care and cleaning videos which are short but informative on how to eliminate the initial plastic taste from the tubes/bladder that is initially there from any new bladder you buy on the market. The only reason I gave this product four stars is because there is a strap on the side of the vest that tightens the fit and rubs against my arm which I find slightly annoying. This only happens on my left side even though there is a strap on both sides. Hmmm.

Solution to hands & belt free!

I purchased this pack after my Flip Belt could not hold enough water for my longer runs. I have been using this to train for a half marathon as well as trail running in the mountains. I do not fill the entire bladder up while road running; to keep the water from swishing around I let the excess air out creating a seal to the water line. As previous reviews have said, the water gets quiet warm as your body temperature goes up, but its water. It took a couple runs to get use to carrying something on my back rather than my hips. I occasionally have to adjust the side straps if I am working my way up a hill and my breathing increases; I don't like to feel restricted around my rib cage/chest. But it is very easy to adjust while in motion. This vest is the prefect solution for hands/belt free! My bust is larger but the S/M fit perfectly as you can adjust the straps to your needs. Easy access to gels/phone or other items you need to carry. Highly recommend for short/long or trail running!

Running

Wore this for a 17+ mile run. Love it! First time I use a vest/backpack and it was a good experience. Stayed in place, didn't bounce, and was light weight. The only complaint I have is that it is not very breathable material on the back so I was VERY sweaty after my run, but it was to be expected. And to be fair, I did strap it on very tight to make sure it didn't bounce. I am 5'4" 116 lbs and very small chested lady. I bought the XS and it fit perfect! Would highly recommend!
