Get into the woods!
Having a great time exploring new trails knowing that this bike can handle anything I might find.
Great Ride!
Just purchased this bike to replace a 12 year old Gary Fisher, and it did not disappoint! Shifting was smooth, 27.5 in was distinctly different than my ol' 26 in'er, and two hours on the trail validated my decision. Handlebars seem a little busy however, or I'm not used to the fork lockout mounted next to my hands. I'll look to adjust the positioning of the shifters and lockout, but for now my hands seem crowded. Minor and adjustable complaint, overall very pleased with the ride.
Great Hardtail Bike!
It's a nice hardtail mountain bike. The shimano deore based drive trains are really great, and the front fork smoothly works on trails. Super fun to ride on trails and bike parks.
Super fun to ride
Very well constructed and designed bike. I hit a moderate mountain bike trail and it performed like a champ. I even enjoyed it for casual riding on the street and was equally impressed. I get lots of compliments on the appearance and build. The matte paint gives a more unique and rugged look and it looks amazing. You can tell REI was not going to put their name on garbage. Happy with my purchase and I would buy again.
I LOVE THIS MOUNTAIN BIKE
I upgraded my DRT 1.1 this past April 28th, which I had for just over a year. I had, had so much fun on the DRT 1.1 that I decided I wanted to move up after putting more than 7,000 miles on it. It was hands down on the DRT 1.3 and I can't tell you how much fun I've had on this bike. Before I bought either bike, I watched on ton of videos on Youtube researching and getting information on bikes and their components. Each bike I saw was well into the $$$$$ and I know I didn't need to spend thousands and thousands on a bike. I'm 58, not a professional and don't intend to be. I wanted a bike I could have fun on, ride confidently and aggressively, if need be, on single track, My DRT 1.3 will hold its own. With all that being said, I've put nearly 800 miles in the month I've owned it. It's fun, good looking, has great components, is everything I need, and will take whatever I throw at it. What's awesome is that I can easily upgrade the components as I need in the future. I'm so happy I own this bike and I'm confident you'll feel the same.
I LOVE THIS BIKE, my whole baby
This bike performs! I push it on all types of trails as fast/fun as possible comfortably. The bike all round is responsive, sturdy & handles beautifully, Shifts smooth and responsive, the air fork is pretty good light and smooth/especially for the price... The bike has a complex paint job that shows character in all types of lighting, it’s beautiful.. the pictures online don’t do it justice! I love this bike, an all around great hard tail.
Seems like a good bike
Though I have nothing to compare it to, I love this bike so far. The components are great for an entry level bike and the fork is actually a Suntour Raidon. There's a lot of hardtails out there in this price range, but if you choose this one you won't regret it.
Great Ride!
After riding a 26" Trek hardtail from 1999, it was finally time to upgrade. Loving this ride and getting back into shredding single track. Handles extremely well and smooth ride. Not surprised that the large frame sold out. Great value compared to other brands.
Great value bike!
Caveat: this is my first mountain bike. I purchased the Co-op Cycle DRT 1.3 because it provided me higher quality components than other "name brands" within my current budget. The thing that drew me to this bike was the high quality, mid-range component spec that I think will provide some of the highest performance per dollar available today. This is one of the only bikes I've seen ~$1000 price range that consistently had Shimano Deore parts instead of parts from their lower grade group sets. I chose the 1.3 over the 1.2 because for ~$200 more, you get air suspension instead of coil (go ride a few and you'll likely think it's worth the money!). Know that you are paying for high quality components on this bike and not wasting any money on paying for a brand. I was initially hoping for a flashier colored bike -- I love turquoise and sea foam green but actually feel very rugged while riding this bike I am riding the stock platform pedals but will probably switch the pedals to clipless soon. Having said that, these pedals are equipped with little knobs that help normal shoes stick on the pedals. Sizing: I was a bit disappointed initially to see that REI makes women's models for the 1.1 and 1.2, but not the 1.3 or 2.1; however, the unisex models fit me well. As others have noted, REI is great about including useful bits with their bikes. At this point, with one trail ride completed, I’m impressed! Props to REI for a great product.
Loving this bike
Just getting into the sport, and was frustrated by the MTB forums trying to decide on a bike. Every recommendation insists you need to upgrade this or that for it to be capable of hopping a tree root and you end up going from sub $1K to looking at $5K bikes. I spoke with the guys at REI, and they were super knowledgeable and recommended the 1.3 for what I was planning on doing, and even stating it was still a little overkill giving me room to grow in the sport. I've hit the trails 7 or 8 times now, covering obstacles I didn't think I'd be able to, or obstacles I approached far to fast and was caught by surprise, only to glide over them with a huge smile. My riding is all XC with some rock gardens, small 12" drops here and there and a lot of tree roots. The bike feels more capable than the rider. I'm having a blast and the bike has been flawless.
