Best ever
I've wore these atleast 10yrs now. Warmest I've ever had great stomping around house or cabin. If they ever blow out I will buy them again thanks so much REI.
Love how warm they are, but soles are filmsy.
My third pair, my feet get cold and these do a great job of keeping them warm. The soles are made of very flimsy material and after a single season the soles have big holes worn out of the bottoms. Really need a real sole on these! Too expensive to only last a year.
Great booties
I got these for my Carter Notch hut weekend over New Year's Eve. They were warm and very comfortable. Despite the wet floor (from melted snow), the rubbery sole kept my feet dry (but they are not billed as waterproof, and I didn't venture outside in the snow wearing only the booties). A little tricky getting on, especially over thick socks. But after about a millisecond, I figured it out.
Bootie Liscious?
I just picked these Cabiniste men's booties up at REI's Garage Sale for $27.83 (used but like new) size shows MXL...? They fit well. I wear a size men's 11 US. Anything over 11, 12 tops will probably be too small. I didn't look them up at REI.com and it turns out they are $26.83 New on their site, but they only have size smalls left so I guess it doesn't matter. I bought them for winter hiking to wear while in camp and possibly while sleeping. The bottoms have small rubber knobs for traction and the sole feels like a 1/2 inch rubber pad that is internal to the outside sole material. The sole is firm and padded. The material on the outside looks and feels like a down sleeping bag around ankle, heel and top of the foot while the bottom looks like a cotton canvas. The booties are very light, but thick with insulation. I don't know how waterproof they will be, but for around a dry or frozen camp they should do well. A scotch guard spray down might be a good idea to help keep them clean and dry. They fit snug around the foot and you can feel an internal elastic shock cord that wraps your ankle to help keep it on your foot. There is one metal snap at the top. These are not for hiking on the trail, but are light enough to pack in as an added comfort. They are slipper-like. Having these will allow you to let your hiking boots dry out and air while you wear these around camp. In general they seem well made. You could by these and be confident that it was $25 well spent. I have yet to use them in camp. I'll report back after camp use.
Really warm
Bought this since my other slippers are wearing out and my son "stole" my other down booties. These are really warm. I was wearing them while visiting Portland and my feet were a tad too toasty. However when back in Minnesota I was comfortable walking outside in the sub-zero weather. Â I like that there is a ankle cuff inside that keeps your foot from slipping around. Now I have to plan a winter climbing adventure...
Very warm, size accurate for me
I was worried about them fitting based upon some of the previous reviews. I ordered XL. My feet are about size 12 and wide. The XLs fit perfectly. No problems at all, and there is a left and a right. I think someone previously wrote something which made me wonder if there was. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is I just got them. Durability is unknown. They appear well made though. No dodgy seams, etc.
warm, but
Cons: Do I know how to put on a pair of shoes? Yes. But, did I expect there is a elastic belt hidden inside to wrap around your ankle? How do one easily tell left vs right? How can the perspiration from the feet escape? My feet were a bit moist. How to clean the inside? Pros: If you can get them on, they are very warm. It's got no problem wearing in a tent when it is 20 out. They are very light.
Absolute trash
I bought these to replace a pair of REI Booties that I wore for 3 years. These were trash, I wore them thru in 3 months. The feathers poured out of the sides. REI has changed their return policy and I cannot return this garbage. Next pair will be from LL Bean. they stand behind their products.
Good for travelling
Nice booties I used while travelling. They were a handy alternative to my Merrill Moabs. Comfortable and pack well.
HARD PASS
I haven't been this mad at a piece of gear in a long time. The eva foam cushion is not water resistant. It is fricking absorbent. If it is not 100% bone dry/frozen, you will be wishing you had something else. Anything else. I went barefoot in just above freezing weather after figuring out i was wearing sponges on my feet. Cold but at least i had warm socks for once the camp work was done.
