Loved it but too big
I have always been a huge fan of Arc'teryx's designs and I really liked this jacket. I picked it up at and end of season clearance sale so was hoping to be able to keep it. I own the Atom LT jacket and vest both of which are XL. I normally wear a L in most women's clothing and the Durant I ordered in an XL since the L was out of stock. Unfortunately, it did fit my broad shoulders and large bust, but since it was longer than my others, looked too big and baggy around my waist and hips. Therefor had to return is. Otherwise, it was warm, the construction was great with the flap closure in front and the hood was nicely oversized when up but doesn't get in the way when down. Wish it wasn't too large.
Zipper is not working from day one!!!
I am very disappointed! The coat itself is wonderful, but the zipper has gotten me sweating and frustrated. From the first time I used it, I couldn't get it to go up. Some days it doesn't disconnect and so I end up getting inside in this very warm (but thin!!! great points for that) coat and I get "trapped" inside because the zipper doesn't release AAAAAHHHHH
Terrible Hood Design
I usually wear Patagonia & Mtn Hardware, but decided to try Arc’teryx. This coat is the perfect weight and the gore-tex works as it should, but don’t think about wearing it in wet, windy weather. The Hood doesn’t stay in place. The only cinch is in the back of the Hood, so when cinched, it’s pulled backwards away from your head and face, and even a tiny breeze blows the Hood off your head. If you don’t use the cinch, the Hood doesn’t stay in place either. This coat is beautiful to look at, but if you have wet, windy weather like I do in Portland, OR, do NOT buy this coat.

Fits perfectly
This jacket is awesome. It fits so well and I get so many compliments on it. I am 5'3" with 29" waist and 39" hips athletic and broad shoulders and the small was perfect. I usually have issues with the shoulders and arms being too tight in smalls so I was pleasantly surprised by the full range of motion I get in my arms and shoulders. If I could choose again though I would have gone with the Patera. It gets down to a damp -5 regularly where I live and this jacket is probably best for+5 degrees Celcius and above. But with a wool sweater underneath it works like a charm :)
Best coat I have ever owned
I bought the Durant coat for my wife; what follows are her comments. (It’s relevant to know that she has worked in a garment factory sewing jackets.) “The first thing that stood out to me was how light the coat is and how clean and precise all the detailed internal stitching is. I appreciate the elegance and simplicity of the design. I love the classic beauty and comfortable fit. And I can testify to the effective weather protection after wearing it through a rainy Vancouver winter. Kudos to the garment workers who sewed this excellent design into perfection!”
Cosy Coat
Ive had this coat a couple of months now. Its style is very no frills but I really love it. I was looking for a trim fit with warmth but no bulk and this coat provides both. It is extremely light but also cosy, we have had a cold snap in the UK with temperatures at around 0c and I have always felt protected from any wind, rain and cold.I am a size 8 to 10 and I ordered a small. There is room to layer underneath which I like, the insulation in the coat does seem fairly thin so I've been wearing a thermal long sleeve and a fleece too. I really like the fact that I don't feel constricted in it and there does seem to be good freedom of movement in the arms without the coat riding up. It was expensive but I'm really pleased I took the plunge and bought it.
Tight neck and poor zipper
I really love the design and the look of this coat. It's light but still keeps you warm. I can wear this above 30F with a sweater inside. I can still look chic and professional. However, the zipper is the most frustrating thing in the world, I bought two from different stores and they both have the same problem. I just cannot zip it up, and I got really frustrated when I am trying to head out of the door. The other major complain is the collar, when zipped to the top, the collar keeps toughing my chin, and as the collar is stiff, my chin hurts a little bit, especially if I need to talk. I also bought Patera to try on and compare, it also have the same issues, zipper and itchy chin. Patera is even more stiff so eventually I decided to keep this one.
The perfect fall and early spring raincoat
I've looked everywhere for the perfect raincoat. Many department store designer brands are stylish (and pricey) but are not really waterproof. I wanted an understated coat that is comfortable, flattering and performs. The Arc'teryx Durant is it!!! Love the lightweight, 2-way zipper and zip pockets.
Warm and waterproof
Like a number of reviewers, I agree- the zipper is a bit difficult and annoying. This coat is warm and rain wicks away well. The fit is good as well however, the two complaints I have are one- the coat doesn't lay well in the torso area- there is a big gap that goes outwards that almost made me not buy it (probably not explains well), and two- the bottom doesn't line up in the front when zipped so it kinda looks awkward. It is warm and comfortable though and functions how I need it to so keeping it.
No room to move, too small
I find this coat to be very small and there is no allowance for movement of shoulders or arms. I read the description and sizing guide online very carefully and before ordering. The description states that it is 'regular fit' and using the listed measurements, I should fit easily into size small. It does fit if I am not wearing ANYTHING heavier than a very light t-shirt underneath and even then, there is not enough room for me to lift my arms above my waist or hugs my arms in towards my body. I think this is designed to be worn by urban commuters that do not move much. The hood only has one adjustment and it is not an effective adjustment. Sadly, I purchased this online through a local company and unbeknownst to me, it is final sale. This was my fist Arc'teryx purchase and will most likely be the last.
