What I needed
Was looking for a good bike to do mainly (cement) and some grass (on/off urban trails), this is a great combo! Rides smooth/quiet, gears shift well, comfortable grips, goes VERY fast. I sit more upright than hunched over (like typical road bikes) which is more comfortable for me.
Very Satisfied
I looked at this bike since it came out in 2017. Went to 2 other REI's but no one had one I could test. My closest store in Greenville had several and in the size I wanted. They immediately offered me a test ride which I wanted. In 5 minutes I knew I was going to make the purchase. It felt great, shifted smooth and nice to ride. I'm very happy with it and glad I did it. The staff at the store was great and very responsive.
Beats running!
I bought the bike a couple of weeks ago and have gone on a ride almost every day. The shifting of the gears is very precise. Don't have to use your thumb to push the lever to the exact sweet spot, just click it forward and the gears shift. Very nice looking bike and the brakes are great. My other cheap bike could never stop on my very steep street. All in all, very satisfied. Got a lot of help at REI and the associate wasn't annoyed that I asked so many questions. Much better than buying online.
Really nice looking Bike
Bike rides great around town and on gravel road and hard dirt trails but not good on soft sand and dirt. Shifts are quick and very smooth and chain and rear hud are very quiet has well.
Perfect bike
I love this bike. I ride street, paved path, crushed limestone & simple (light) single track. Bike performs well, is easy to handle & perfect for a go anywhere do anything kind of ride.
Does as promised
I wanted something that could go on and off road. When i jumped on it, I rode 30 miles.
A Pleasure to Ride
I bought this bike last February, and I couldn't be happier. The bike is very comfortable, rides great, and look good while doing it. This is my first Ghost bike, and I am pleasantly surprised.
So far so good
Before I made purchase at Northville, mi REI on this ghost sq 3 I did test ride on 5 different bikes. First one was Specialized Crosstail Disc and Crosstail Sport. Both looked great with hiding cables in body and so many colors to choose. Price was $630 and $830. Disc felt just ok on shifting and so as brakes then when I tried sport I was surprised that there wasn't that much of difference on braking and shifting.. kinda disappointed for extra $200. Second brand I tried was Trek. I tried Trek DS 3 and DS 2 priced at $800 and $600. I started with DS 3 and it felt great on everything pretty much then tried DS 2 I started to see some differences. DS definitely lacked on braking and shifting wasnt so effortless like DS 3. Last one was Co-Op city 2.2 from REI. 2.2 was on sale at $720. When I tested it it felt about just equal as Specialized Crosstail Sport, and I really didn't like how cable was exposed on top of frame like eye sore. So as results Ghost SQ 3 was best with Trek DS 3 but price better with REI's 10% back. 1 Ghost SQ3 $720 / 2 Trek DS 3 $800 / 3 Specialized CT sport $830 or Co Op city 2.2 $720
Perfect all around bike!
I am a dad in his 30s with a wife and young kids (5 and 7). 8 years ago or so I had purchased a entry level hardtail 26" mountain bike from Costco as my first bike since my teens. It was fun for a while and could pull the little ones in a trailer with it. Took it camping and on vacation as well as riding around home (in town). Mainly blacktop and light trail use. Downside is that it took quite a bit of effort to propel, was heavy had no lock out on the fork as well as it didn't fit me quite as well as I would like. Then I purchased a nice entry level Giant Defy road bike. Polar opposite! I was in love! Like driving a sports car that can only be ridden on good roads. As time has gone by we moved just out of town into the country and I lost interest in the road bike because it is a one trick pony. It's not fun to ride it with the family and can't go off smooth surfaces. And now the hunched over position is hard on my wrists, and back. So off to REI to replace the knobby, fat tires on the Mt bike with something more efficient to give me the all around bike that I really desired. Well I decided to brows the bikes while there. Tried one of the co-op cty bikes and the GHOST square cross 3. Both were great! The comfort, efficiency and multi purpose design of the GHOST blew me away. Couldn't leave without it. Took it home and am selling my other bikes. The components are all quality without getting into the really, really high end stuff(and therefore raising the price). 700c wheels make a huge difference over the 26"s in rolling efficiency and being able to go over small obstacles. Brakes work so well. Shifting is smooth. Riding position is fairly upright, but not "comfort bike" upright. Not as light as my 19 lb road bike, but at 29lb it is relatively light compared to many bikes, and rolls very efficiently. This is a fast bike for not being a "road bike" but you can be more comfy and go off road too. The fork has a lock out (I will never buy a bike with suspension without a lockout again). Ohh and it has a nifty bell too! I believe this is the type of bike many people should consider when looking for an "only" bike. It isn't an extreme road bike or extreme Mt bike. It is perfectly in the middle and can do both jobs within reason. Would work great for many to commute, ride decent trails, out with the family, on vacation, to the super market etc... etc...... Now I just need to find a kick stand, rack and maybe fenders for it...just trying to have a practical, comfortable quality bike. I'm not sure what parts will fit it. May try slightly wider tires someday, though for some reason the manufacturer doesn't recommend it. Strange... Highly recommended!
Mountain biking at its BEST!
I bought this GHOST Bike about a month ago, The best investment yet. Can't stop riding it. It rides like a dream, Been waiting a long time to buy a GHOST.
