Great All-Around Insulated Vest
I got this vest for winter here in Wisconsin. I wear this vest as a top layer over a long sleeve T-shirt and another long sleeve insulated layer - a flannel shirt, a waffle weave Henley, that sort of thing. It does two things for me: 1. I get an additional layer of insulation for my core. 2. I can zip the collar up all the way and get closure around my neck. This feature is HUGE. I might head into a coffee shop to meet a friend and find that it's a bit chilly in there - it's amazing how much more comfortable I can be by just zipping that neck shut. These two features are just what I need to stay comfortable in a WI winter.
Light, versatile, warm & stylish
I love this vest. Am wearing it right now - in the office. It is super versatile for outdoor and indoor use, use open or zipped, as its own outdoor coat or - like right now in 25 degree winter weather - as perfect sub layer under other coat. I tried Large and Medium and went for Medium, even though size chart recommended Large for me. Am 6'1", 190 lbs. When zipped, it fits like a sweater, not tight or constraining at all. When open, it hangs nicely and doesn't droop.
Incredible versatile + very well made
Probably my single favorite piece of outer wear. I love this product's design & functionality so much that I have TWO of them. The second one I got for under $30 (shipped) after applying a 20% off coupon AND the $100 gift card I got for applying for the REI Mastercard (which I used only once, and will now cut up since I don't really need another credit card). I own the Navy Blue one (with red accents/trim) and the Paintbrush Red (which is a reddish orange color -- perfect for biking on cool autumn and spring days). It's Patagonia, so you know it's (a) very well made; and (b) ecologically/environmentally good (low impact). If I could give it SIX stars (out of five), I would. :-)
Get real sizing Patagonia
The product itself is fine, even nice, but the sizing is whack. I know I am not a small guy and ordered a XXL, which usually fits me with even some room to spare. On this vest, I couldn't even zipper up the vest. Not sure what Patagonia gets out of creating "it runs small" clothing, but I certainly felt bad after trying this on, not what you want your customer to experience. Ironically, when I went in store to see if the XXXL was a better fit for an exchange, it was so big that I felt I could have another person in the vest with me! I ended up returning this and buying the REI version, which I am very pleased with.
Purchased for air travel; perfect!
I bought this gray Nano Puff Vest to deal with the cool/cold air temp during international air travel and its inside zipped pocket to stash my passport. Over 6 flights, it is the perfect weight. With mild San Diego weather, it's great for early morning walks and our upcoming mild winter. The vest can be compressed into inner pocket, and zipped closed, into a 5" square.
Super Vest
Purchased this vest because it had Primaloft Gold insulation. It is super thin, light, packs down really small and still has the widest temperature range of any vest I currently own. It took a little time for me to get over the price on these, however it didn't take long for it to become my go to choice. Comfortable from 55 down to who knows, clearly this has been the best purchase I've made in a long time. Easily can replace numerous other vests due to the versatility.
A great first choice as an outdoor vest
I like to keep my arms less covered when I'm working on something outside or while enjoying activities outdoors. Over the years, jackets tended to get in the way or restricted my movement. So, I finally decided to invest in a vest. I admittedly was never a fan of them from an appearance standpoint. Now I definitely am glad I decided to purchase one, and specifically this one. The Nano Puff Vest is light, comfortable and functional. It provides enough warmth to my core to keep me outside comfortably without over-heating. Additionally, it packs easily for use as needed on the trail. It's great for active use where you need a bit more insulation. I highly recommend it.
Dream Vest
I received it, today, and can’t take it off. It’s perfect in every way. It’s light weight, great color, three zipper pockets and packs to the size of a softball. Most of all, the fit is perfect. I’m 5’ll” and 175lbs and bought the large. I’m planning to walk the Camino and it’s going with me. Patagonia delivers. I have their fleece and it’s 23 years old and looks like new.
Best Vest
I have many vests, and this is the best. I've literally worn the same unit XC skiing over a R1 at 20F, and in a board room. There is simply no more versatile vest. Patagonia's warranty is truly hardcore - they have repaired numerous pieces for me, usually with a very quick turnaround speed. I've never gotten a piece of gear to the "replace" phase of life - which is really saying something, as I live in Alaska and use stuff HARD. Get one! Or even better, get two!
Versatile, lightweight, windproof vest
I agree with almost all of the 5 star reviews. I'm mostly writing this to help others with fitting. I'm 5'9", 160 lbs. The medium is a perfect fit for me. Not bulky. Windproof. Comfortable from 40 - 60 degree temps and as a layer under a ski jacket or combined with my Nano puff jacket.
