The Nano Puff vest is perfect as a lightweight layer, especially for hiking and taking walks in cool weather. This is my second nano puff vest, the first I purchased in 2015 and it is going strong. I live in Aspen, CO and literally live in this vest all Fall/Winter/Spring. I like this year’s pink color so much that I had to have it. I thought I would add my review after reading so many conflicting reviews for this vest. I am 5’4” 110lbs, 26/27 waist pant size, small chested. The size Small is much too large unless I had several layers or a bulky sweater underneath. The XS is a great fit. To clarify, I typically wear a Lululemon Swiftly long sleeve (slim fitting shirt) beneath these vests, so I don’t want the vest to fit overly large, but also not tight as I wear it for hiking and snow sports. With the XS I can still layer a thicker top or fleece underneath. The weight and warmth are perfect for what it is. This is not the vest you wear on 20 degree days. Unless the sun is out. This is the vest you reach for when it is 30-50 degrees and you will be active while outside. I hope this helps! Also, just a note on sizing over the years… my 2015 vest is a size Small and is comparable to the 2022 XS. The 2022 Small is cut much roomier than the 2015 Small cut, not sure why Patagonia changed this but it’s a pretty dramatic sizing increase.

Zipper stabs you in the trachea

This is a great lightweight vest, though sadly, I'll be returning it. Maybe I have a short neck, but if I have the zipper all the way up, or even slight open, the zipper, which is quite stiff, jabs me in the neck. Not my favorite! Since I want this for layering, I take want to be able to zip it all the way up. Half an inch shorter and it would be fine, or offset like some jackets, and it wouldn't be an issue, but as is, it's high enough and non flexible enough the only place for it to go is right into my neck. Otherwise, it's really well constructed, but for me, for this purpose, it's a fatal flaw.

Perfect except...

I bought this because I love my black nano puff jacket. It's so light weight but warm and versatile (can be relatively dressed up or dressed down). The size and fit of the vest are the exact same as the jacket and I love everything about it EXCEPT the color. I love the French red but the zippers are aqua/teal. In the photo they look more grey. I'm torn about whether to keep or return it because I think this will limit the color/style of tops I can wear under it. The aqua/teal accents just make it look so much more casual

Light but mighty!

I owned a Nano Puff jacket for many years and love it for its versatility. The jacket was really warm and also light at the same time. I decided to finally purchase the vest for a great under/over layer for the changing seasons. The vest has a pretty feminine fit. I'm 5'8", 135lbs. with a slender build and I purchased a medium. Its a perfect fit, not too tight while not appearing baggy. Its a great, long-lasting piece to have for the outdoors as well as a night on the town.

Not that warm

For the price I practically expected this thing to light me on fire! It's simply not that warm. I love the thin profile, easy to move my arms, comfortable fit (5'1", 125 lbs, medium fits great with several layers underneath), and look of it. However, it just is not that warm. I wish vests had temperature ratings like sleeping bags do. I've worn it snowshoeing on a warm day, as well as just around the yard and walking my dogs in Northern CA on a 50 degree day. My 30 year old down filled Solo vest is much warmer. I guess the new technology doesn't match up to down?

snag snag city

so sad to be giving a patagonia a less than a five-star review since they're out there trying to save the world and their product quality is normally through the roof- i have a synchilla fleece 25 years old and still kicking it- but i gotta be real. after wearing it only a couple of times, it snagged in several places. and not the kind of snags that you can tuck inward or stretch it out back to almost-normal condition. it's the kind of snag that pinches areas of fabric. then, the string just sort of loops and hangs, which makes it super easy to re-snag. like i said, snag sang city. yes, it's an incredible layering piece. yes, it keeps you warm for such a thin layer. sadly, i had to take it back to rei land.

GREAT QUALITY LIGHTWEIGHT VEST

A perfect lightweight vest for Minnesota spring and fall. Of the many vests I own, this is my favorite; I own 10 or 12 in different colors. I recently purchased the deep teal vest (which shows up as a bright turquoise on REI website on my computer screen; other websites show the correct color). The deep teal color is beautiful, as is the green, and will go with many colors. I am grateful that Patagonia makes XXL in women's, as we are not all skinny minnies. I am 5' 5", 185 pounds, and bust 44DD. The XXL fits perfectly with a medium-weight shirt underneath. Four stars instead of 5, because it is expensive. Great if I can get it on sale and my size is still available, but not always possible.

wear it everywhere

i got this as a gift, it wasnt what i wanted but we were out of town and it was cold so i wore it, and loved it. it fits under my 2 piece northface coat. it has a nice inside pocket for keys or a creditcard, i wear this and dont take a coat or purse when running around town. i hiked through some pretty heavy underbrush and then stood way too close to a fire, but i didnt notice any snags or scorch marks.

Tight in hips

I really liked the style, but as another reviewer pointed out, it’s tight around the hips. If you are very slim, or have what used to be called a “boyish” figure, it should be fine, but if you need a more feminine cut, that flares a bit at the hips, this isn’t for you.

Fit could be better for my shape

Really like the light weight and styling of this vest, but I am disappointed in the fit. The vest is tight over the hips when zipped, and consequently creeps up toward my waist. I am 5'2", 138 and pear shaped with bigger hips and booty than waist, so the problem may be unique to my shape. I ordered a medium. A large would probably solve the zip/hip issue, but it would be way too big overall.
