Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

I love this jacket. I'm 5' 9" and 210 lbs. I wear it with a pull over sweatshirt most of the time and I've never been cold while wearing it. There is enough room inside for layers and it has plenty of loft. I bought it for ultralight backpacking and it's been great so far. Most recently I wore it a few weeks ago while backpacking in the north Georgia mountains. It was in the low to mid 20's and after a mile of hiking I had to take it off because I was too hot. Some people complain about there not being a sinch cord to tighten the hood but that's not a problem for me. As long as you have the zipper all the way up the hood won't really move and there also plenty of room in the hood for a warm hat. It's about a third of the price of some of the big name brands and that's just fine and works just as well. I got the spurlina green color which no longer looks available.
I purchased this as a budget friendly down jacket for ultralight backpacking. So far it's been great. I wore this over a wool baselayer and light fleece mid layer in 20 degree weather and I was comfortably warm. I'm guessing that same setup would do well in anything above 10 degrees. I am 5'11 175-180lbs. The medium fit almost perfect but I went with the large to accommodate a couple of layers underneath and to sleep comfortably in it if needed. My only minor issue is that the hood is a little large (likely because I went with the large) and doesn't have cinches. So occasionally it feels like it's sliding a little too far over my forehead. A medium would likely solve this for me.
I have had this jacket about 2 months now and have used it in weather in the 30's. All I had on underneath is a cotton t-shirt and a Nike long sleeve running shirt. I was surprised that I was warm in this jacket as I usually am cold. I was contemplating returning it because the cuffs did not have any elastic in and the cold air road right up my sleeve. I solved the problem by opening the seam on the cuff and running my own 99 cents worth of elastic around the cuff and closing it up again. Took about 10 minutes.
I was a little surprised when I put it on how warm I was. It seemed 'thin' from what I was expecting but it definitely kept me cozy. I think it works best with layers. The first time I wore it all I had on below was a T-shirt. My torso and shoulders were warm, but when the cold wind picked up my arms were feeling the chill. I thought I would miss a pull string for the hood, however the way it fit around my face after I zipped the neck all the way up was great. No need for a pull string. Also the zippers and stitching around the pockets are a little cheap. Some strands area already coming loose and I've only worn it twice. This is why its a 4 star rather than a 5. Great jacket to buy and the right price.
I bought this jacket for a weekend trip in Pisgah, NC. I needed a pretty large size, so I was limited in what I purchased. But for price/fill count/warmth I was really happy with this jacket. Turns out the weekend was kinda warmer than expected so I stuffed the jacket into it's pocket and used it as a pillow in my NEMO bag and I was able to easy put it in my day pack, taking up minimal space, to use when we hiked up to a Black Balsam Knob for sunrise... All in all, super happy with this product. Thanks for making good quality, decent cost jackets REI
I never thought I'd be a puffy jacket kind of guy, but this jacket changed me. Bought originally for work to layer under a shell, I find myself wearing it everywhere, on its own, even out to dinner. Puffy without making you feel like a certain tire company's mascot, it's warm and cozy. The nylon is soft, the hood fits great and I love that it stuffs into its own pocket. I would add pit zips and maybe make it an inch longer and add a drawstring in the hood.
The main reason why I wanted to write this review was to inform others of the misleading product pictures. I ordered the "Quiet Shade" color thinking it would be a light grey, but it turned out to be a dark, more charcoal color grey. I've only had this jacket for, a day, so I don't have any backpacking experience with it yet, but I can already tell a few things. Compared to the Marmot Quasar: 1) This jacket is not very fitted or snug (there is some room). This could just be the size that I got (I got a small, which probably was the right size length wise, just a little roomy in the arms--140lbs, 5' 8"). Some people may like a little extra room (for layers), but I personally like a more fitted jacket. 2) This jacket doesn't have a cinch cord at the waist, which I found to be a nice feature. - Other than that, this is a great jacket for the price. 650 fill down is not the best, but it's sufficient. I just tested it outside where the temperature is 39 degrees, and I was warm with only a T-shirt underneath. - Also, I appreciate the hood. It adds extra warmth and I think it looks good. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get the most out of their money for a down jacket purchase.
Great jacket. Honestly my favorite. I bought it for NYC during New Year holiday and it held up. He coldest it got was 35 degrees. I would say it was fine alone for 40 degrees and up but lower than that I layered with a fleece. 100% wind proof and the hood was perfect. I am 6’1 and 165 and bought a medium. Fit was perfect for me though I prefer things slim. A large would have been fine as well. Great color and the packing feature made it perfect for travel. Know that it can’t pack in both pockets, only the one with the rei tag on it.
I brought this jacket while on vacation in Arizona. The temperature drops at night and I wasn’t prepared for temps in the upper thirties. When comparing this REI jacket against the name brands I saved over a hundred dollars. Who cares if it is synthetic down and not from a goose. The hood is a nice feature. It doesn’t get in the way when you aren’t wearing the hood on your head. Combine the hood with a hat and your head is warm. I found the wind did get through. It much better when you layer a long sleeve shirt and fleece. I am long distance walker and jacket compacts into its left pocket. Perfect for my small back pack
I had the non-hooded version of a packable REI jacket for years now. It fit in the pocket, had good lining inside to avoid static, strong sewn wrists. A pull string at the bottom to make it tight around the body, and an upper chest 3rd pocket, water-resistant down. Oh, and I paid slightly less for it. Then I ordered this, it's not even close to how warm the last jacket was and has none of the above. i.e. there are competitors that sell similar jackets these days for $20-$30. REI must have started buying from them. I am actually shocked at the cheap quality of this REI branded jacket. I really wanted a replacement for one I've had for years now, but this jus
