I was excited the first time I wore these pants climbing. The fit was stretchy, comfortable, and yet felt durable. So excited I bought a second pair the next week. However, after the second time wearing them I got a hole in them. Literally the reason I was willing to pay $80 for these was the supposed “2-way stretch ripstop fabric holds strong against brushes with gnarly granite”. No, I was not in some crazy bushy area, just light cragging. I don’t expect them to never get holes, but I do expect them to not get holes so easily. Super disappointed. I’ll just go back to my Prana that at least waits till the end of a season to get a hole in them.
The label said these would stretch but I didn’t believe it until I dropped a squat and these held up like it was nothing. Haven’t tested these out in the wild yet but while doing errands around town, they are wicked comfy and very cute. The drawstrings are a great touch. Need to test out first but after casual wear, I could TOTALLY see myself getting another oair
I bought these less than 6 months ago and they are already badly faded and have a hole. I use these maybe once a week for climbing, mostly indoors. Have used them outdoors maybe 5 times. Very disappointed in the quality, especially since i spent almost 100$ on them. The other reviews are accurate. The back pockets are weird and lumpy. They shrink in the wash. The fit is uncomfortable. The color fades, you can see in my photo showing the inside of the pocket how much they have faded. I will be sticking to other brands.
I have a small size that I use for leisurewear and a medium size that I used for climbing - I needed a larger size for climbing since there is not much stretch. Sizing is unfortunate - I am a 6 and the smalls are visibly tight and the mediums quite baggy. After wearing the medium maybe 10 times outdoors, I was disappointed to see them rip, and so soon, in normal (not rough on them) conditions for a beginner climber. The small size is still in good shape because I only wear them around the house, though for both the color has faded significantly - less than a year old, always hang dry.
I got these for some cooler-weather climbing this weekend, and was super happy with them. They were thicker than my usual gym leggings, so worked out fine for a 50 deg F day. The waistband had enough stretch but stayed up even when carrying the heavy backpack cinched at my waist. I also liked the fit of the legs - they were tapered enough so that I had clear views of my feet at all times. The fabric seems durable - no issues even climbing on some sharp rocks. I like the zippered leg pocket - not big enough for my phone but worked for a few small items, and out of the way of my harness. I could fit my phone in the back pockets.
I wear these when I go hiking, camping, and landscaping. They've held up well, except the zipper does not stay up. Also, I find the drawstring superfluous because the waist has fly + button closer. However they fit really well on me -- I am 5'2, on the slender side, 107 lb, and the XS fits perfectly and hits a little above my ankle (doesnt hit my running shoes). The pants even fit over my wool base layer on a recent camping / hiking trip in the photo. I'd buy another pair on sale, just hope the zipper works.
I bought these pants in mid October 2020. They were my go-to hiking and climbing pants. I gave them a bit of a beating but that is what I expected from a model with the title "ripstop". Now it is August 2021 and the butt is totally fraying. For a quality REI purchase, I would not have expected these to wear out so fast.
Like others have said, these pants look cute, but outside, it’s not looks that count. It’s performance. I wore these canyoneering in Death Valley. On the approach, before we’d even dropped into the canyon, the entire butt was shredded. These might be ripstop if you stick to groomed trails, but on rocks, these things don’t hold up. I wore $89 pants for 3 hours before I had to throw them in the trash. The next day, I wore an OLD pair pants through conditions that were far worse, and they held up just fine. I also wasn’t pleased to learn that Vuori coats these pants in Teflon. Shame on them for that.
I used these for the first time on Angel’s Landing in Zion and they were great! If you’ve done Angel’s Landing you know you have to crouch down and extend your legs to get over some crazy rocks. These pants were perfect for that! I didn’t feel restricted when I had to extend my legs or crouch down. And I wasn’t worried the material was going to ripped or snag when I had to slide down some rocks. Also for reference, I’m 5ft and these pants weren’t too long.
I’m 5’7, and 135 lbs with an athletic butt and thighs. I normally wear 28 in jeans or a 6, or a medium. So I got the medium- tried them on in store- the small wouldn’t even pull over my knees! They are cut with a straight fit- I’m not straight- my hips are 38. They hit at just above the hips. Not low rise but not high rise either. They seem to fit me but not well. The pockets gap out at the sides I guess because my hips are too wide for the pants- they also flatten out my rear . For some reason I got them- at home they look a lot worse. I guess it’s the difference in mirrors. They are those pants that you only wear a longer top with- to cover what’s happening on top. So I’ll be bringing them back. They do collect lint but it’s manageable w lint brush.
